The Ultimate Fighting Championship is making an audacious bid to sign a promotional multi-fight deal with Anthony Joshua which could earn the Londoner $500 million (£353 million) and make him the richest British boxer of all time.

Joshua has become boxing’s biggest star and The Daily Telegraph understands Dana White, the UFC president, will attend his title fight with Joseph Parker in Cardiff on Saturday week and plans to meet with the 28-year-old and his team.

White has previously declared the heavyweight has “changed the face of boxing” and multiple sources have confirmed the UFC hope to lure him away from Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing, Joshua’s promoters since 2013.

He’s boxing’s biggest star, yet I’ve never heard of him. Boxing is dead.

It's crazy how many boxers use to be household names.

Now it's like 1 or 2.

Exactly.

I somewhat follow boxing. Very loosely these days. Never heard of this guy.

Got to be a planted story because the majority of casual mma fans and maybe even boxing fans have either never heard of him or only seen very little..

because he's not boxing's biggest star... GGG, Canelo, Pac, and Wilder are bigger, not counting Mayweather

If you even casually follow the sport, I find that hard to believe. He's an international superstar at this point. You've seriously never heard of the guy? An Olympic gold medalist, heavyweight champion, and a guy who sold out a 90,000 seat stadium?

Did no one hear of Joshua v Klitschko at Wembley? Jesus, it was one of the biggest sporting events of the year (and ended Klitschko's career).

I'd amend your statement to read that boxing is currently on life support in the U.S. because we have no heavyweight superstars. Not that boxing is dead.

For Boxing fans.

Not to general sports fans.

Once the Klitschko bros took over and America didn't have a Heavyweight champion and with all the PPV bullshite, boxing died in America.

It's just Brits now who give a shite.

General sports fans all over the world know who Anthony is. Don't get caught up in our little American bubble on this. He is a superstar on the level of Usain Bolt or Manny Pacquiao. We don't care that much right now because Americans have sucked for a long time, but there is a huge market, even a market in the developed world (Europe, parts of South America, parts of Asia etc.), that is collectively much larger than the U.S.

I find it hard to believe that anyone who even casually follows the sport doesn't know who Anthony Joshua is.

I don’t even follow boxing and I know who he is. It’s hard to believe so many here haven’t heard of him.

What would be legit is to see how Joshua does if he signs with UFC and he gets 4 or 5 years under his belt

He's gonna need it because Wilder is putting him to sleep.

And if boxing is dead why did White offer this kind of jack to a BOXER and why did MMA's biggest star to go BOXING to make his biggest payday than all of his MMA gigs put together?

That says more about you than the sport.
