While i beleive umpires are, for the most part, cheatera and paid off, red sox need to calm down here. Umpires are like law emforcement. You just cant argue with them. You dont have to like what they say or do. But they are in charge and you have to follow there rules and decisions! Otherwise there would be chaos and players and coaches thinking they control the game

In instances like this i wish after the game the ump realizes he worked that and all previous five games for free and is suspended for 5 days.

Basically lose two weeks of pay.

Maybe then those assholes will realize nobody is coming to the game to see their antics.

It's 6:17 and umpires are still stupid.

you can argue all you want you just can't "show them up." That's how fricking soft they are.

Baseball has by far the softest and douchiest people in all sports. And the worst officials.

In this day and age, a computerized strike zone not being used is really dumb. Same for football with a chip in it to determine first downs and breaking the plane of the endzone. You don't have to get rid of umps and refs, just make it where they are there for what they need to be there for and not to make it all about them. Home plate umps have the potential to completely hijack the game and that is absurd.

Sure you can. Granted, there is a proper way to do so.
If a person of authority is clearly wrong and has it pointed out, that doesn't not give them the right to then approach the situation aggressively because their pride is hurt.

Cop, umpire etc, their authority is bestowed upon them not granted through birth. Meaning they are human, make mistakes and not immune to having their authority challenged. In this situation the umpire chose to double down on his errors, abusing his authority, when if he, as the person of authority, had handled the situation properly, no harm, no foul, everyone moves on and it's all much ado about nothing. Instead we are discussing it today. The person of authority is the root of the problem here. That shouldn't go unchallenged. Respecting the title of authority is far different from granting those with it unwavering authority over you.

Can someone investigate the umpire’s financials? Just to make sure there were no inappropriate bets on this game and others.

I was watching this live. The umpire handled it poorly IMO. At the same time, Buehler wouldn’t have gotten tossed if he had just let it go. Almost looked like he wanted to be tossed.

Also, the pitch was borderline, possibly low. Understandable ball call, nothing for Buehler to lose his mind over.

I see that it’s in the white box, but look at the catchers movement and tell me you would know that wasn’t low if you were the ump.

You’re making excuses for a bad call.

Agreed. It would be so easy. And the only logical reason for it not being used is that the leagues don’t want to get it right.

That was not a borderline pitch.

It looks low without the benefit of the white box. Y’all bunch of nerds think we should have robots calling balls and strikes. I disagree.
Umpires make calls. It’s baseball. Leave it alone.

Look at it this way. Watching it live, that interaction was exhilarating. It definitely added to the spectacle of the sport. The Red Sox ended up using lime 7 pitchers and still won the game. The Mets couldn’t even score a run off of all those relievers, with their massive payroll.

All that is fun and interesting. Don’t sanitize it with robots.

Ump approaching him and taking the mask off doesn't help. He looked to be baiting him

The ump is below average LINK and has ranked low pretty much his entire career

What sucks is he missed the call that happens it sucks. But to double down and be an pseudo aggressive tough guy is the problem.

The umpires union needs to be broken. The fact that Angel Hernandez could keep his job for 30 years says everything you need to know.

It’s too easy a fix and bad calls can have too much sway over a game to not improve it with technology. Keep the ump but for pitches he and the managers get the ball/strike call sent to a wrist unit. No brainer.

I think walker was asking the ump where it was and the ump over reacted.

Justifying and wanting bad calls is a wild take.
