Imagine your own manager bitching at you for being the best player in baseball.

That's pathetic and that manager whining should be fired.

So you're not supposed to actually play the game you're paid to play?

If you don't like it, then your pitcher shouldn't throw a pitch that he can hit a grand slam off of.

If you don't want a guy to hit a homer...don't throw a crappy pitch.

Baseball unwritten rules these days.
Is a 7 run lead really all that safe in this madness of a season.
I watched a game a week ago where a team almost blew a 9 run lead.
How long have the Padres been irrelevant and not much more than a AAA team.
I could care less if the Padres run up the score.

So stupid. This is pro sports. They’re paid enormous sums of money, if you don’t like losing get better or wipe your tears with your money, just don’t bitch about it in public

Like reporters on Twitter have said, either make these "unwritten rules" written or it's time to leave those in the past.

San Diego also has one of the worst bullpen ERAs in the MLB, so just like the Padres scored 5 runs in the second, who's to say the Rangers don't do the same in the bottom of the eighth off this crappy bullpen and make it a 10-8 deficit and a whole new ballgame?

I actually like the unwritten rules for the most part, but this one is totally retarded.

I would argue that walking in a run is more embarrassing for the pitcher than giving up a bomb to the guy having the best season in baseball right now.

Jayce Tingler comes off as a gigantic pussy in this whole thing.

I also find it odd that people are not shocked at his own manager criticizing him. I thought that was by far the most interesting part of the story.

This is why you don’t put a man named Jayce in any position of power

In sports without a time clock (baseball, tennis, etc), there is no such thing as running up the score

Its not like a team with a big late lead can just run out the clock in baseball. What happens if the Rangers put up 4-5 runs in the 8th and 9th innings? If the opposing pitcher gives you a chance to add a few insurance runs, you take it
