I feel the best case for the kid is for his father to be a changed man, and to help prevent this type of attroxity from happening through mentorship , and to help raise his son
Killing Carruth at this point only gives me and you a selfish satisfaction, it helps nothing
I realize though he likelihood of him being changed is low, and he likely is still a shithead worthy of death

He tried to kill the kid, he should not be trusted with taking care of the kid or even being along with the kid for 1 minute of the kid's life IMO.
If he wants to help the lady who raised the kid, he can try to get a couple of jobs, do the best he can and send her a check every month.

In a perfect world, I’d agree with you. However, we don’t live in a perfect world.
Carruth had the opportunity to be a part of his sons life. Instead of choosing to be a part of it, he had the mother killed while she was pregnant and tried to kill his son. He does not deserve to be a part of his kids life.

Some states also provide for the payment of child support by a non-custodial parent to the child's custodian in situations where said child is older than 18 but is mentally handicapped. Not sure about North Carolina. Carruth is a scumbag regardless.

The Charlotte paper had a long article, a year or so ago, about his upcoming release and the family history.
The grandma who raised that kid is a saint, Not sure if there is another saint in her family to take over when she dies or gets too old.
