True, he either avoided or lost to every top fighter from the era- Lewis, Holyfield, Bowe, Foreman, Moore, Klitchkos

You think ‘prime’ Tyson is beating a prime George Foreman? A prime Ali? We already saw how inept Tyson looked against Holyfield and Lewis. Tyson was an exciting fighter until Buster Douglas beat the shite out of him. The aura was gone after that. It was over.

This in a nutshell. I watched the Douglas/Tyson fight at a friends house and when Tyson got KO'd I told him this:

"Douglas just showed the heavyweight world the blueprint on how to beat Tyson".

Quick Tillis drew the blue print and Buster laid down the foundation.

Absolutely. And Holyfield perfected it.

Tyson is 5’10, 225 lbs. Lennox Lewis was 6’5 250+ lbs. Klitschko was 6’6 240lbs.

The reach and weight difference was somewhat laughable, I’m not on Tyson’s side I’m saying he really didn’t stand a chance against some of the enormous true heavy weights.

I say no version of Tyson beats Lennox Lewis but he has a great chance of KO'ing Klitschko since he showed his chin was vulnerable to a solid punch.

Klitschko had 5 losses in his career, with 4 coming by KO.

If Mike doesn't KO Klitschko in the first three rounds, Wlad has him for lunch.

Severely underrated all-time

See his title defenses above. His problem is the era in which he boxed.

Nope. Lewis and Holyfield were better fighters. Mike would've lost no matter what age because he wasn't as good as them.

Wlad had an impressive record as a heavyweight, but was boring as hell to watch fight. He employed the jab, grab/hold, get broke apart by the ref-----rinse and repeat.

I can remember many times Manny Stewart pleading with him to just get in there and punch his opponent instead of the above tactics. I really hated watching his fights.

Now, his brother Vitali was a much better fighter and a hell of a lot more active in the ring as far as aggression.

People don't realize just how fast the skill drained out of the heavyweight division after the downfall of Holyfield.

Lewis was perfect for fighting Holyfield and really should have won the first 'Undisputed' fight outright; but it was the mark of that decline in both Holyfield and the division as a whole.

Overall, the UFC hadn't stolen everything yet, but you could watch the heavier weight classes as they swirled the toilet bowl even before then.

ESPN ranked the greatest 50 boxers of all time- Tyson was ranked #50

quote:

50) Mike Tyson

Heavyweight
Ring career: 1985-2005. Record: 50-6-0-2 (44 KOs)
Career notes: Knocked out Trevor Berbick in the second round in November 1986 to become youngest heavyweight champion in history. … Intimidating demeanor and devastating two-fisted knockout power cowed many opponents into submission before the first bell. … Tore through heavyweight ranks until being upended by 42-1 underdog James "Buster" Douglas in 1990. … Comeback was derailed by a prison sentence for rape from 1992 to 1995. … Regained WBC heavyweight belt from Frank Bruno and WBA belt from Bruce Seldon in 1996, but lost to Evander Holyfield in November of that year. Melted down in rematch, biting both of Holyfield's ears. … Was beaten badly over eight rounds by Lennox Lewis in 2002. … Quit on his stool after six rounds in his last fight, against Kevin McBride, in 2005.

Overall, I rank a lot of fighters over Tyson since ESPN took into account all weight divisions making that list. I could probably think of 30 right off the top of my head without going into any research on the matter.

Once Tyson got beat, he was just like the playground bully who got put in his place. Then he loses to Holy in the first fight then was getting beaten even worse in their second, thus the biting of the man's ears to get disqualified.

Then Lennox Lewis added insult to injury when he administered his beatdown of Tyson. By then, he was as good as done as a pro fighter.
