Prayers for NBA Legend Paul Pierce who is Struggling Big Time Financially

Yahoo Sports
Made about $200M in career salary btw. Let's for the purpose of this call it $100M take home and that is during an era with much less inflation and lower prices (1998-2017). Not to even mention the endorsements.
I thought someone who went to school at Kansas for 3 years would be more educated than this. Sure I know he's from a low income area in Los Angeles but with years of incredible NBA money and financial counseling and easy access to great investment tools and so on, you would think he wouldn't piss it away on hoes and cars. But here we are. Retard

Former NBA star Paul Pierce said he's "tapped out" financially after losing his job with Fox Sports. The athlete also said he's struggled to keep up with court-ordered payments to his ex-wife and his children.
Court documents claim Pierce used to receive $119,000 a month from Fox Sports; however, he received his last check in August, and now his monthly income is zero.
Paul said he pays close to $30,000 per month in child support and another $20,000 per month in spousal support.
Additionally, Pierce spends nearly $50,000 a month in bills, including close to $10,000 in childcare, $5,000 in groceries, $7,000 on eating out, $3,200 on utilities, $1,000 on clothes, $3,500 on entertainment, and "various other expenses."

I just don’t understand how so many of these guys do this.

Child support and alimony are things he can't change, but he can certainly save some money by not spending $12,000 a year on clothes. He could also try buying some Hillshire Farm brand items at the grocery store

Getting paid almost $1.5M/yr after his playing days were over. I feel no remorse

Paul I've figured out a way to save you $138,000 a year my man.

I’m hoping this is just to get his child support reduced and he has assets that he doesn’t want to sell. These type of stories never make sense to me

Didn't he get fired b/c of a live stream with a dozen hookers or something?

He’s likely posturing to win a child support battle from his new baby that was born in February 2026 with another woman.
quote:
According to court docs, obtained by TMZ, Paul was ordered to pay his ex $8,508 per month for his son, King Rafael Santiago Pierce. The judge did note the order is temporary, and the court still has the authority to change the child support amount as the case proceeds.
quote:
In addition, Paul will have to cough up $100K for his ex’s legal fees in the case ... and another $10K for her to retain a forensic accountant. As TMZ first reported, as part of her child support request, Princess claimed Paul earned nearly $200 million during his NBA career and was seeking $30K per month in child support. She argued he had more than enough money to pay for support.
This all could have been avoided with a vasectomy after getting divorced from his wife.

as a lifelong celtics fan........what a dumbass he is. most of them are financially retarded. imagine what real investors like us normal people could do with that money. maybe he shoulda learned to invest in RE or trade like a middle class plug.
some normal people do not make that in a year.
that baby momma does not need that to "live". it should now be drastically reduced based on his income. ridiculous.
that is all on his dumbass. most all that is not needed. he blows his money like many pro athletes did.
ok. so using your figure..we will say 100 million cleared. automatically he shoulda invested 50% of that...which is 50 million. with the other 50 million to "spend" on his lavish lifestyle.
thrown 50 million over time into an S&P 500 index fund. the S&P 500 has grown 681% since 1998. when he began playing. imagine how much he would have had he slowly added that 50 million as he earned it to a index fund.
It would be astronomical growth and returns. once he finished playing he could take that growth and then invest in a dividend payer to live off the dividends.
50 million in a 10% dividend ETF would have him currently getting 416k a month. or 5 million a year. however the total would be way more than that had he......let that grow in a index fund first before switched to a dividend paying ETF.
oh well maybe he can learn to code. tough shite. or get a real job like most of us. poor thing.

Child Support along with Alimony + Private Schools + Healthcare + etc can bankrupt almost any athlete regardless if they made 100, 200, or even 300 million dollars. Look at Evander Holyfield for example. He made more money than Pierce.

Spending like the paychecks will never stop is always a strategy. Guess he needs to run back to the courts to demand an adjustment to his payments. Also, isn't there a rule that the total child & spousal support cannot exceed a certain percentage of a person's income?

I might, but I doubt it makes me feel sorry that someone has to go get a real job after they get done playing sports, just like the rest of us.
