Picking a QB for the sake of picking a QB is how you end up with awful QBs.
The QB problem is much easier to solve if you can fix the weapons issue first
exactly in that scenario they draft a non QB, and trade a 2nd and 4th to Detroit for Stafford since the Lions just drafted a QB in the first round.

Rookie QBs don’t magically make a terrible offensive line better. A terrible offensive line can ruin a great QB (Luck) or prevent a qb from having a shot at decent career (David Carr).
