but the delusion and the culture is still there and that's what helped allow everything to go on and on and on unchecked for decades.

Wow, that's an idiotic statement. Not shocked coming from you.

Not one school has done anything close to allowing a known pedophile to abuse children for years.

I think many (non-Penn St) fans have difficulty getting over the 'lecturing' that Joe Pa and others with the university gave other schools for so many decades. They always took the position that they won 'the right way' and whined about all of the things other schools did.

It's sort of like the politicians that run on family values and get caught with a prostitute (or worse).

If the Penn St. fans would criticize the prior administration fully (including Joe Pa), then I think the rest of us might embrace the new regime and overall university more favorably.

No, it's really not. Most schools don't have a coaching figure as respected, successful, and one that has given back to the community as much as Joe Pa.

If they did and something like this happened, they'd continue to support that coach who was the pinnacle of integrity and success for so long.

The only people that respect that arrogant frick are Penn State fans.

All that fanbase cared about during the whole process was Joesus and his fricking 409 wins. They didn't give a rats arse about the victims.

And the small price the community had to pay was to allow a sick man groom the impoverished children of their community for sexual abuse?

Yeah, I think I'll pass.

The people who still defend Paterno are sick and delusional though.

That's what most people have a problem with to this day.

A lot of people also have a problem with the choice of Franklin because of the way he handled the rape issue at Vanderbilt.

Did Penn State really learn from their mistakes? They fired a coach who enabled kiddie rape and hired a coach that tried to downplay the rape of a woman.

Sabi throwing haymakers in here. We have a situation where the school put sports over a sick pedophile for years -- and even after all the facts have come out a good portion of the fanbase either still worships Joe Pa, pretends it didn't happen, or ignores it completely. It looks more like an institutional issue to me that should have been dealt with via the death penalty

I personally despise PSU and wish they'd been removed from the Big Ten. I find their fanbase cocky, delusional, and cult-like. All for a program that's barely been relevant in 20 years.

To me they represent some of the worst examples of sad people using a college football team's performance as validation of their own self worth. When you have that connection it's hard to see things clearly when there's a situation like with Joe Pa and Jerry.

Because "Penn St" didn't do anything wrong, actual human beings did...and as you stated, they're all gone.

What's the issue here?

Well, because those men acted in their capacity as Penn State officials, Penn State did do something wrong, imo.

Shame has to play a role in some respect, even though the "bad guys" are gone.

If Penn State didn't do anything wrong then why did Penn State have to shell out $60 million dollars?
