I'm a huge Ohtani fan, but PCA is underrated.
PCA is leading Ohtani by 1.7 WAR. Ohtani has pitched 85.2 innings, that's half a season for the average starter these days. If Ohtani had pitched July and August, AND maintained the career-best pace he was setting, they would be tied. But he would not be blowing away or even ahead of PCA.

MVPCA is a lock for NL MVP, but the best player in baseball is still THE JUDGE and it’s not particularly close.

This was before Shohei went 0-5 & PCA led off another game with a bomb.
Not only is it a foregone conclusion that he is the NL MVP, he’s probably the most improved player in the league as well. That’s coming off a season where he finished 9th in the MVP race.
