Skenes with pitch every 6th and have 5 more starts. Miss out on the last series vs NYY.

134 IP + his 29 in the minors, so 163IP total.

I bet this is the Pirates plans.

So...

Cubs
Cubs
Marlins
Cardinals
Brewers

Why should he pitch meaningless games as a rookie?

I would argue building up his innings will help him in the future and give him a better sense of what his arm will feel like deep in a season

Merrill walk-off HR vs Mets.

Not good for the Skenes ROY team.

Merrill might as well be -6000 now. Skenes can’t get a win with a 7 run lead

11 runs in the last 3 innings of a game is flat out embarrassing. Each of those dudes should personally apologize to Skenes

Spencer Schwellenbach has basically matched Skenes the last month in all of the numbers.

Just when you think it can’t get worse for the Pirates, Bednar extends his lead for the worst closer in baseball history award.

Seems like not completely given that Merrill will run away with ROY. Still good odds of it. It has been as much as Skenes +1000 a few weeks ago, but it is slowly trending down. Skenes likely to pitch against the Reds and a season finale vs the NYY.

September ERA 1.06 in 3 games.

Merrill -240
Skenes +180

Last 3 games in last month of the season and he is still averaging 10K's per 9 inning and would be the lowest ERA in MLB by a good bit if he qualified and an opponent BA of .204

He has 16 of 21 quality starts and it would be 20/21 if they had left him in. Has pitched thru 5 innings in all but his first start which is unheard of from a rookie.

He has more K's than hits, walks, and earned runs allowed combined.

It is a shame that either he or Merrill will finish 2nd in ROY voting. I hate ties, but this qualifies as a good year to have one.

Really good outing from Skenes today. Struck out 8 and got his era down to 1.99 giving up no runs. He’s only given up 4 earned runs in his last 6 outings

FD now has Merrill at -120 and Skenes -115

People are really debating if Merrill is in the same league as Skenes?
