Yet there are plenty of people that think the collapse of these conferences is a good thing.

Yep. Like Kirk said on GameDay. Enjoy this Michigan Ohio St game today where it's win and get in cause next year it will be like March madness and both teams will be in anyway just the difference between a 1 seed and a 3 or 4 seed.

Meaningless games is one side of the coin and then of course all the rivalries being torn apart. Sucks. On the plus side as an LSU fan they'll be in the playoffs most years. But then again so will the same 12 teams so it will get old real fast watching the same teams every year in the playoff.

Really a shame that Oregon was forced to leave the pac 12 against their will

I’d expect something pettier than this in CFB. We are getting soft.

Greedy men in suits are to thank for ruining CFB traditions.

Soft piano plays as the intro

It's been a long day
without you, my friend
And I'll tell you all about it
when I see you again
We've come a long way from where we began
Oh, I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
When I see you again

I just hope we eventually have superconferences so big that they split into regional groupings...

Realignment sucks for two important groups

1. The fans of college sports who have enjoyed the rivalries for many years

2. College athletes in every sport besides football, where there are many more games (and thus, many more road games).

Major college football teams play 5 road games a year. They can live with it. Meanwhile women’s volleyball teams play 10-12 road games a year, baseball and softball teams go on the road constantly, basketball teams have a pretty condensed schedule, etc. Soccer, field hockey and lacrosse aren’t quite as bad but closer to those sports than football.

Now they will be doing the same thing West Virginia did the past few years at a much larger scale.

And most of those aren’t revenue sports, either.

So what? Next year at this time there will be potentially 18+- fanbases with something to root for rather than 7.

I think once CFB breaks into 2 conferences, the rest of the sports will go back to more regional groups

So UCLA football plays in conference 1, but UCLA softball plays in de facto pac 12.

Once college football breaks away from the NCAA (it's coming sooner than later) the superconferences will realign to regional groupings.

It's coming.

No, that's not going to happen. It's like suggesting Louisville has a shot at a national title. They don't. Playoff birth is meaningless.

All you have to do is look at FCS. National champ comes from a higher and higher seed over time, despite a large playoff pool.

They are killing this sport.
