Soccer needs to have an over and back rule like basketball at half court.
then defenses would be near impossible to break. Even with the larger playing area having more players on the field makes a differences. People don’t go backward just because. They do it to spread the defense and try and get an opening.

can't play commercials since there are no timeouts so TV networks don't like it, thus americans don't get enough exposure to it.

You just posted, in my opinion, the best thing about soccer.

I get it if you don’t like the sport. But at least they play the god damn game. Every American sport is commercials with a few plays sprinkled in.

Golf isn’t a sport. It’s an activity.

It's incredibly boring and lame. That simple.

If it isn't the Texans or Cowboys this is why I default to Redzone.

It’s boring. That’s the only reason. All those things you listed don’t really matter. It’s just a really fricking boring sport.

Soccer is just too weak. You should be able to slide into players and take them out.

If they made the goal 2 feet wider and 2 feet higher it would make for a more exciting game.

Not enough scoring
NFL teams average between 14 and 28 points per game. If each touchdown was counted as one point instead of 6 plus the extra point, the score of NFL games would resemble soccer scores.

Instead of game being 28 to 14, it would be 4 to 2.

Basketball is about the only major sport that truly has a lot of scoring.

Nobody here is going to like soccer until you pick a team to follow. That’s the only way to truly get into the sport. Once you do, and you become emotionally invested, you will have a completely different view of soccer. It will all start to make sense.

4 to 2 would be great but it's often 0-0 1-0

We're obsessed with soccer as a youth sport...run around, eat orange slices and Soccer Mom will buy you Pizza afterwards.

So we have an ingrained lifelong bias of no skill involved. Just 90 minutes of jogging. Its not true but that's how the sport is marketed in the US..."its for kids!"

Plus Americans hate ties.

And we like playoffs, unlike the EPL.
