Official List of Reasons Why Americans Hate Soccer

- viewed as a 'foreign' sport and 'not meant for americans'
- too many women play it
- wearing high socks pulled up to the knees looks gay and ridiculous
- can't play commercials since there are no timeouts so TV networks don't like it, thus americans don't get enough exposure to it.
- lack of understanding of the game. everything looks like a backwards pass to the average american viewer so it looks like nothing is happening
- cool kids in school play football and basketball...you get laughed at for playing soccer
- LGBTQ+ in america trying hard to claim it as their own for some reason bringing their gay flags and agenda to games, and thus turning off straight americans to the sport

It’s not for everyone but the no commercials is so nice. I also really like that the majority of the games are in the morning and don’t conflict with other activities or games in the afternoon or evening.
Just like some CFB fans hated the 9-6 game of the century, some people can’t stand low scoring soccer games. To each their own but I can still be entertained watching a 0-0 game with two teams playing at high levels.

The ratings for the World Cup here are pretty good for something is mostly played in the middle of weekdays.

time counting up is stupid, just count down so no math is involved
“extra time” is stupid, just start and stop the clock
having only one ref run around on the field with the players who has to make important game changing calls involving cards, which leads to the worst part
the ridiculous dramatic flopping that’s needed to draw a penalty (or try to) … this isn’t unique to soccer, but the length the players go and continue to roll around and writhe in “pain” while play continues is just laughable

They could do it like hockey and have 3 zones and the lead player has to carry it ahead of everyone else into the offensive zone but once it's there it can be moved willy nilly.

I love college football. It always has been and will be my favorite sport. But I like soccer too. This answer is the most American thing I might've heard. "Change the rules because I don't want to have to count to 45."

The one thing that I can't deny soccer does way better than football is the lack of commercials, the general continuity of the game flow, which all means the games generally end around 2 hours like clockwork. They don't get dragged out like football, baseball, and basketball (particularly in the last minute of a close game) do.

Megan Rapinoe did an incredible disservice to the sport of soccer in the United States and you can add in the USWNT into the fold with their stunts on getting paid a "fair" wage.
Side note: I have watched soccer more than any other sport this year but I completely empathize with why most Americans tend to dislike the sport.

Soccer needs to have an over and back rule like basketball at half court. Would increase the action and scoring. Frick kicking it around the field aimlessly.
