Join a conference.

I hope all major P5 schools refuse to schedule the cry babies.

USC definitely playing hardball to make ND look like even more of a joke with their scheduling.

ND refused to play in September, which was the only viable date in the modern landscape, and then ran a media campaign around it to paint themselves as the victim.

Truth lies in the middle. Lincoln and your AD are on record complaining about the L to nd keeping them out of playoff discussion. We all know Lincoln very well. Nd already moved the game to October to accommodate usc their was no way for them to be able to move it to September this year.

ND will play the victim. USC needs to make sure that the college football world knows what actually happened. Notre Dame thinks teams should bend over backwards to play them. I hope they can’t find any opponents. The committee needs to punish them for having a crappy schedule

If ND played a normal schedule this game would not be as big of a deal. Lately (when USC has had a pulse) it has been an ND game to pay attention to because the rest of their schedule was dog shite. USC had no reason to fly cross country again when they are already playing a deep B10 schedule.

Sad day for college football. USC’s choice, btw.

Notre Dame's fault.

Yup. The only programs who care about them are in the Big Ten anyways.

Oh well. College football isn’t about tradition. It’s only about money.

This post (and thread generally) basically shows how irrational people are when it comes to ND.

ND chooses not to play a minor bowl when more than half the starters would not be playing - but is now traveling to that same would-be opponent’s stadium next year in the regular season - and it’s ND as cry babies who are scared.

USC chooses to end a century-long rivalry in which they are 1-7 in the last 8 meetings… and it’s also ND’s fault for not accommodating, not that USC’s running away scared.

This board simultaneously misses “the good ole days” of college football, but is up-in-arms about ND keeping the same status it’s had for 150 years. Meanwhile, USC’s role in contributing to the demise of one of America’s great conferences in order to expand the B1G from the Pacific Ocean to New Jersey is not a big deal.

Don’t worry, the super league(s) will be coming down the pipeline, and ND will join for it. You will all get your wish.

0 benefit to anybody to play competitive out of conference games now. None - if you win, great, but the punishment is not worth the reward.

Miami would not be in the playoff without the ND win.

And if Texas had played a scrub instead of OSU to open the year they are likely in instead of out.

It would’ve literally been the exact same scheduling arrangement as for the past, I don’t know… 50 years? 60 years?

Except Southern Cal has 9 true conference games and ND has... ?

See my previous comment. Notre Dame needs Southern Cal, not the other way around. It's why you feel as strongly as you do right now.

Don't act like the last 50-60 years has any bearing on today's landscape.

I know things change over time and nostalgia is strong, but this sucks and this new college football sucks. I'd rather go back to the old bowl system and old conferences, Big 10, ACC, SEC, Big 8, SWC, PAC 10, than this crap. Growing up in the 80's and into the 90's and early 2000's college football was far and away my favorite sport, but not anymore. This shite is damaged beyond repair.

Sure, just pointing out that they can also help. If Texas had beaten OSU and everything else played out exactly the same (including losing to bad UF and going to OT with bad MSU and UK), they’d be in contention for a bye, and definitely getting a home game.

You make good points but they will be ignored because this board picks and chooses what it's outraged at.
