but G5 clowns cried " muh we can never make the top 2 or top 4 so we must have autobids"

f all those schools.

should be top 12 teams using old BCS formula.

The insanity of this is mind-numbing.

So, if you’re in a power conference and make the top 12, you might get in. But if you’re ND, you can play a soft as babyshit schedule, no conference championship game, and are guaranteed a spot? Time to blow up this model.

I honestly don’t even see how this is legal. This would have to be able to be challenged as it makes zero sense. Time for a complete overhaul. 16 teams, no auto bids, remove conference championship games. Just top 16 teams

Not going to protect them like they think. They’ll just make sure to not rank them

The conference is and ESPN and other networks made too much money yesterday for conference championship games to go away.

Their desire to be independent and benefit ridiculously is at the expense of everyone else. That’s why you should hate them if you don’t already.

All the committee needs to do is vote them below the made up line. I'm sure ESPN will buy into the narrative that ND is better off joining a conference so that they can broadcast some of their games

What a way to teach kids to take the easy way out when it doesnt go your way. We call these types of people "front runners".

includes language guaranteeing Notre Dame a berth in the 12-team field if it is ranked inside the top 12. An 11th-ranked Irish team, under the new model, would be locked into the tournament.

If this happened then the spot should come from a group of 5 team.

I can't believe this is actually real. I mean I trust the source. I just mean the idea of it.

This is so corrupt. It's not right to make special rules for one specific team.

The conferences agreed to it. There's no one to challenge it. Everyone was ok with it.

Any Tiger fans my age or older have hated Notre Dame since they so graciously agreed to lift their longtime self imposed bowl ban to frick what was likely Mac’s best team out of the Cotton Bowl, and we stayed home with a 9-1 record, with the one loss to Archie by 3 points.

They are given every possible advantage, from their own TV contract, to playing Army, Navy, Air Force, the Coast Guard, and the Boy Scouts every year.

frick the Leprechauns, and the added benefit is they get to feel what we did in 1969, and what we felt when the Saban mystique got tGumps into the playoffs when they didn’t deserve it.

This. CFB has drafted different rules for different teams to get in. SOS & W-L record is minimized.

Like the at large teams who don’t risk injury sitting at home, start by refusing to play the extra conference champ game unless they’re otherwise out. Conf champ? so what nobody cares. BYFAR this ain’t the 12 best teams competing.

There shouldn’t be any auto bids or any special considerations like this deal. Either the 12 or 16 best teams. Period.

If we aren’t going to let any G5 teams in, why do we need 12 teams at all?

UGA vs Indiana in the BCS or Indiana vs Texas Tech and UGA vs Ohio State in a 4 team playoff would both be a better setup.

They could do away with CCGs and add an extra conference game for everyone instead, since these conferences are so big now. Everyone plays 13 games, 10 of them conference games so there are more data points within conferences. Championship week becomes an entire full slate of football instead of a handful of games so conferences and networks can make even more money.

Conferences can name their champs or co-champs however they want but playoffs just take the top 16 teams straight up. No autobids, no byes, just line up the top 16 and there's your bracket.
