I really like that rule. Dunks being three as a way to discourage the 3 point shot is intriguing, but a shot made closer shouldn't be worth 3 points. I don't like the swish rule and the last 3 records rule I don't like.
But I really like the losing a point for missing a free throw. It would add to the strategy of fouling for comebacks. I can see on a bad day Shaq or Dennis Rodman finishing with negative points. I do agree that on principle there should be a penalty for missing free throws.

Except if you think fouling and the amount of fts is bad now, this would turn every drive to the hole into a foul, they miss 1 ft and boom you made a stop. Miss both and you actually took points away, why not foul on purpose anytime the offense gains an advantage?

Players can still foul out. I think it’s being overplayed that it would be a foul fest. I do think the strategy for a trailing team in the 3Q or 4Q could evolve a bunch. You might actually use your entire bench as well to manage the fouls. Maybe create a rule where any sub must remain in the game for a specified number of possessions.

I bet after a while awful free throw shooters won’t be playing, especially if they’re not gonna get dunks to make up for them
