He may as well go get licensed to sell insurance.
State insurance departments don’t look fondly upon guys with financial crime histories. Though he hasn’t been charged yet, its out there that he was illegally gambling underaged by betting through accounts in other people’s names. And then whatever other laws may have been broken related to gambling on his own team’s events

He basically has no shot at being drafted whether he was able to enter a supplemental draft or enters the regular draft next year. He might convince a GM to give him a shot at mini-camp, but the dude is going to be a no-go for almost any NFL franchise with his baggage. He's not good enough for teams to mess with him. I think his only path is playing in another league, showing out, and hoping someone gives him a shot down the road. He made his bed, now he can lie in it. He knew what the consequences could be if he got caught.

It was insane how many people thought the NFL would welcome him with open arms. Why on earth would any owner take on that liability?
Well, this is larger than that.
Teams choosing to not waste a high pick is one thing.
This is the NFL saying, we sure as hell aren't going to help you get in to the league given what you've done.

Now he can focus on his rehab paid for by Texas Tech since they were so worried he got the care he so desperately needed!

Wow, this seems like the NFL protecting the dumb teams from themselves. Can't blame them and he doesn't deserve to escape punishment anyway.

He is not a member of the NFLPA. This makes no sense at all. Dude has no leg to stand on.

Yeah I’d be worried my premium payment would end up on the over in the Turkish Midget Wrestling Federation.

This might be the coolest thing NFL leadership has ever done
That letter is the most professional bullying I’ve ever seen and it’s beautiful

Yeah I have no idea what argument he could try to use.
Even if he is somehow successful though, the NFL will just quietly blackball him anyways. Congrats you won the lawsuit, and no one drafted you...
What he needs to do at this point is fire his agent, fire his attorney, go play for a year or two in whatever league will take you and start a public or campaign saying you are sorry and you've learned from your mistakes.

Can someone explain it to me like I eat crayons. What stops him from being signed a free agent?

pretty sure you have to go through the draft before you can be signed as a free agent

I just looked it up and a player can be signed outside of the draft process but only after 5 seasons have passed.

No just in game cheating. No big deal.

you sought to avoid the consequences of that determination through litigation rather than accepting responsibility for your actions, and you pursued entry into the NFL only after abandoning those efforts.

Yep. Every team was going to his pro day.

This is fantastic news and the response letter from General Counsel was gold.

bullshite. Only about 5 teams would be interested and only 1 or 2 would be there in any official capacity because this guy is nuclear.

Brendan Sorsby's attorney, Jeffrey Kessler, tells ESPN of the NFL's decision to not hold a supplemental draft: "It is a violation of the CBA and the law. We will pursue this immediately with the NFLPA."
From the NFL's letter to Sorsby:
quote:
We are in receipt of your Petition for Special Eligibility, dated June 16, 2026 (“Petition”). As announced earlier today, the League has elected not to conduct a Supplemental Draft this year.
Under our Collective Bargaining Agreement, the League retains sole discretion to determine whether it is appropriate to conduct a Supplemental Draft in any given year.
Well, someone is gonna be quite out of luck on the CBA portion of the argument. My money is on the NFL prevailing. I doubt it's called a petition for no reason.

College Draft
Section 1. Time of Draft
There shall be an Annual Selection Meeting (the “College Draft” or “Draft”) each League Year during the term of this Agreement and for the year immediately following the expiration or termination of this Agreement, with respect to which the following rules shall apply. In any League Year in which the NFL deems it appropriate, there may also be a Supplemental Draft.

Section 2
Number of Choices and Eligibility
If a player who was not eligible for the Draft in any League Year becomes eligible after the date of the Draft, he will be eligible to be selected in a Supplemental Draft, if the League elects to conduct such a Draft, on or before the seventh calendar day prior to the opening of the first training camp that League Year. No player may elect to bypass a Draft for which he is eligible to apply for selection in a Supplemental Draft. Any Club that selects a player in a Supplemental Draft must forfeit a choice in the same round in the next succeeding principal Draft.

Dude fricked up but TT made the situation infinitely worse for him by bulldozing ahead in their desperation for a championship.
They tried playing the us against the world, were the victims here and nobody bought it. Generally people are all for tossing a middle finger to the NCAA but this was one of those no real gray area matters, you take your L and move on. TT assumed there would be some anger for a day or two, then the news cycle would bury it…nah uh
If you’re a TT fan you should be embarrassed about how they handled it
