Flag fb is now an Olympic sport. I’m not sure the nfl won’t be there in 25 years.

Watch hockey. Even though it’s not as fight-heavy as it used to be… it’s still rough and the playoffs are a madhouse.

I started watching more hockey and less NFL last year, and it’s been a great switch. A lot less bullshite in the NHL. Even their highest level minor league, the AHL, is good.

We’ve seen other pro football leagues come and go never being able to compete with the NFL. But this rule may be the one to break that monopoly.

I think there could be an opening for the USFL/XFL here. They should take the rules back to where they were in the 1960s and stress that in their marketing.

NFL has been unwatchable for years now.

I do miss the days of sitting on the couch all day watching NFL.

May as well ban tackling altogether and have them wear flags.

He said it’s unforgiving not unforgivable. He means mechanically the hip drop tackle is unforgiving if the runners legs get caught up underneath and injury probability is high bc of this. He is not suggesting the technique is dirty. I believe.

Here is where I have to point out a lot of this is probably either (1) smarter football or (2) political and not really a rule issue

Don't just come with a problem, come with a solution. Some outside-the-box ideas:
Ultimate Frisbee rules - Receivers get 2 steps to stop their momentum, ball is placed for a new down.
Ban offensive juking - Deviating more than 5 degrees from path of travel once you have possession is a penalty. This would allow defenders to square up for a good form tackle.
Two hand touch rules - inb4 Sandusky jokes. frick y'all.

Either do this

quote:

Just put flags on these big bitches and be done with it.

Or this

quote:

I mean, at some point teams/players just have to accept that the game they play for a living has injuries.

They’ve already legislated tackling to the point that I don’t think defensive players even know what they are and aren’t allowed to do. The proposal would also bring officials into play even more.

Agree but not sure 1960s rules would work. The head injury issue is real and those hits need to be outlawed.

But they could still make it real football. And if the NFL enacts this rule, they’ll have a great opportunity to stick it to the shield and create a viable league.

Can’t say enough great things about the NHL. Plus a lot of foreign players don’t promote the woke bullshite and they don’t care if progressives want to cancel them.

A lot harder to rig hockey games too whereas this is now a feature with the NFL.

I honestly don't know how you are expected to tackle a 230 pound running back running full speed if they remove "hip drop" tackles. You're asking defenders to basically only tackle them by going for their legs which is 1) going to result in knee injuries rendering it counter-productive; and 2) make it nearly impossible to legally tackle a running back at all

We better ban wrapping up the legs as well.

I started last year. Plan on making a trip to Dallas to see the Stars and pumped for Seawolves-Zydeco rivalry we get this year

They don’t care about the players, it’s just about money. Star players getting hurt = less people watching.
