does your level of irritation with injuries fluctuate based on the talent level of the player in question?

Unforgivable behavior?

As dumb as it sounds, unforgivable and unforgiving mean different things in this context

the hip-drop tackle increases risk of injury by 25 times the rate of a standard tackle.

what is a standard tackle when you can't grab the back of a jersey, can't hit high, can't hit the knees (on a QB), and now apparently can't pull someone down by the waist?

Football is a violent sport with massive human beings. You're not going to eliminate injuries or significantly reduce them with rule changes.

I honestly don't know how you are expected to tackle a 230 pound running back running full speed if they remove "hip drop" tackles. You're asking defenders to basically only tackle them by going for their legs which is 1) going to result in knee injuries rendering it counter-productive; and 2) make it nearly impossible to legally tackle a running back at all

NFL is spiraling down for a lot of reasons, wouldn't mind seeing South Park Bras on their heads on the way out.

I'm usually one to say these changes are not a big deal but this would be idiotic.

It's already gotten bad enough with defenders just diving at ballcarriers' knees. This is gonna make it even worse as it's taking away another option besides that.

Apparently it is a technique that is taught to get larger, stronger runners than the tackler on the ground by pulling the runner's hips down with the tackler's weight, sometimes resulting in the tackler's body laying onto the runner's legs.

Isn’t that just a “tackle”

Used to not happen. Maybe really crack down on PEDs and they could go back to playing real football

I call BS on this stat.

And how is this “hip drop” tackle not a standard tackle.

WTF do they consider a standard tackle

Sounds like you may be happier watching soccer.

Besides football, rugby and hockey, soccer is the most physical sport that’s somewhat popular on a global scale. It’s way more physical than basketball

One more thought

We’ve seen other pro football leagues come and go never being able to compete with the NFL.

But this rule may be the one to break that monopoly.

Eventually the NFL will move to flag football.

I’m not saying that sarcastically. That’s where this is heading. We are halfway there already. Just need to get the public a little more used to it.

I predict QB’s wearing flags within 10 years. Then it will spread from there.

Wouldn’t want to hurt anyone…

This is why I will be watching the MLB tomorrow night instead of the garbage the NFL trots out, just like I did Sunday.

If you don’t want to get hurt making millions of dollars playing a fricking game, then put a pair of steel toes on and go hang some iron

You talking about basketball players or soccer players?
