Not sure anyone would want to go there for a game. Good way to get murdered

I’d imagine it’ll be pretty safe for this event considering the exposure

Something that was once very cool, unique, and interesting will now become corporatized, bland and stale.

Kinda thought it was lame that they werent playing on the actual field.

They don't do much for people going to legion field and that's just a few blocks away.

Kind of like going to an event in NOLA, leave your doors unlocked because you are going to get robbed

If they want to play a game or a few at old negro or historic parks cool. But there can only be one field of dreams game and that is the one played at the field of dreams in Iowa.

Umm... well then it's not the "Field of Dreams" game. It's a "Willie Mays once played here when in the Negro Leagues" game. That's cool and all but they should name it something that signifies it's honoring the Negro Leagues in specific and not glom it onto a completely different thing.

I hope all the renovation doesn't ruin the charm of the site. I don't see the need for all the additional new fields. It was perfect the way it was.

about 25 years ago i played on the FOD field. i was up there for a wedding

at the time (dont know if same now) you could just walk on the field and play. we went to walmart, bought some gloves and balls and went out there

walked from the corn, sat in the bleachers, hit and played the field
it was AWESOME

Just a few more years before we get the Mets in Smith-Will’s in Jackson in honor of the 80’s Mets farm system.

Neat experience. I imagine it's a lot harder to get access now. Did anyone here go to the game last year or in 2021?

I guess if all those games are televised. I doubt anyone will be watching though. It's a shame that greed ruins the charm of something that was once pure. But that's the sad reality of sports today though. I suppose it's only a matter of time until the World Series and Super Bowl move to PPV.

Is this a regular season game or spring training type game?

There are a Church's fried chicken and a African hair braiding salon conveniently located within blocks of the stadium.

Rickwood is a cool place. My great grandfather played there.

Terrible hood. And Bham really doesn’t need another baseball field.

Not a great part of town at all, but not terrible for an event like that with a crowd. The main issue will be parking. There just isn’t any. There is a lot of history to that park, and it will be a great thing for Birmingham.

Middle schools go on field trips there all the time and none of them have ever been murdered. Kids are safer at Rickwood than they are in the actual schools theses days
