This would be my argument. The COL is much higher and would require a higher salary to get by.

just keep believing that lsu grads compete with stanford in the lifetime salary dept.... you can't really be that naive brah...

Aren't most football recruits thinking they will make it the NFL..where this kind of does not matter?
I guess the smart ones are thinking of a future after football..

yes, Stunford is in a completely different tier from LSU (hey, but they are both Tier-1 now!), that is a given.

but, it is also naive to think that the COL where Stunford grads work doesn't show itself in the numbers.

Wonder what student athletes that graduate make in comparison. That would probably be more appropriate for their purposes.

True, but these numbers presumably take NFL and NBA player salaries into account. Think about where LSU's numbers would be if you factored out superstars like Shaq.

would barely make a dent when you figure 10k students graduate each year...

Nobody is saying that, only pointing out the the gap would be reduced. Take a midol and quit getting upset about nothing.

Don't think it matters, a Stanford degree is a Stanford degree is a Stanford degree.

It's kind of disconcerting to me that Auburn grads make nearly $8,000 more than LSU grads

THey are averaging in the amount they get paid to sign and play there....lets see $180k up front divided by the first 15 yrs......comes out to about 12k per year extra..

And thats not even counting the weekly bonuses for achievement..

Here is the original article from ESPN,

granted, a LSU football athlete maybe more highly regarded than one from Stanford, but Stanford has had more than its share of famous NFL players(John Elway, John Lynch), and a budding one in Andrew Luck.

That should help them a ton with the players that aren't planning on going pro.

I love LSU, but turning down a Stanford education would be pretty hard to do. This might sway me.

Depends on what you go for. Some kids go to college only bc 2 years is required to get drafted. if they feel they are good enough, they go to a school that has lower education since it isnt important to them but still has a decent team so they can get noticed.

woohooooo Aggies are 3rd on a list! We never get that close to #1

I do know that the A&M coaches preach that if you want to live in Texas after you are finished with football it's best to have an Aggie Ring on your hand to get a job.

I'm sure LSU preaches that also. If you want to retire in Louisiana, do it as a Tiger football player and live the good life

LSU has sent a number of players into the Pro's, look at the numbers on the starting day rosters, in the NFL. Some have returned to finish at LSU (Josh Reed as of late). This also plays into the ones that start as a True Freshman. Having only 4 years to get a degree, when I say this, you have a bunch undecided, changing Majors, etc. I remember one coach being ask how many of his players graduate? His reply, "All them that wants to!"

Stanford isn't going after the "typical" football recruit.

I wonder if they include the money these players earn before their degree as part of this list.
