The very fact that there are those arguing for a ‘rule change’ or that this was somehow ‘unsportsmanlike’ just illustrated with a very sharp point that nothing done was outside the rules or spirit of the game.

I hope you don't make important decisions that effect anyone other than yourself with that piss poor logic. Holy hell that's bad.

Bunch of butthurt going on in this thread.

riiiiiight

The most intelligent comments consider simply dropping the slide rule altogether.

Ehh.. not really b/c that completely ignores where the game is today. This isn't 1995 when you could take a guys head off for going over the middle.

Besides that, trying to outlaw trickery performed within the rules

The play should have been blown dead once he started his slide. Nothing that happened after he faked his slide was performed within the rules b/c the rule states the play is over. I'm not sure why this is so difficult for some of you to comprehend.

Your argument is akin to saying "Well the refs didn't call pass interference so even though the DB tackled the WR before the ball got there it was within the rules."

RULE APPROVED DEFENSE!!!

is just plain pussified…

Ahh and there it is. You're an internet tough guy. Congrats on letting us know you have a micro peen mr billy bad arse.

This one specially feels like a bad one to try to change the rules for. Defenders went flat footed from 15 yards away. It’s not like he put them in a position where they had to try to avoid contact in anyway

It was just a frickin terrible defensive play

If he did that two plays later and the defensive player decleated him, it would be an automatic ejection.

What Pickett did was bush league bullshite and the refs should have removed all slide protection rules for the remainder of the game.

This is so much different than a pump fake. Don't be dense. Pickett intentionally took advantage of hypersensitive rules against defensive players who might get thrown out of a game for breathing close to the QB's head. They have no choice but to stop and pull up when the QB goes into a slide motion. Pickett knew this and took advantage of it.

Clawson should have sent out a goon on the next drive to earhole Pickett.

If a kick returner makes even a half arse move that looks like a fair catch signal that's it. No advancing the ball.

Pickett should have been marked down where he started the fake slide.

I wish the QBs of the 70s-90s could have played in today’s football.

Elway would destroy this era. Steve Young too.
