Why is James Harden on that? I don't recall him being obnoxiously vocal on social issues here

I give Silver credit for this. LeBron is a hypocrite who has shown that he doesn’t like when people do things that might impact his wallet, even if he will do it to other people. By calling Morey uneducated on this issue, he is basically telling Morey something equivalent to “shut up and dribble.”

Cliffs notes version: Lebron sucking China leaders dick, while NBA gives Lebron and Chinese leader the reach around.

Nahhhhhhh, he wanted to know why Morey didn't get in more trouble

One of the most egregious and damning things to come out of all this

Lebron didn’t just disagree with him silently, or even publicly; he wanted Morey punished for speaking out.

James, to paraphrase, told Silver he knew that if a player caused the same type of uproar from something he said or tweeted, the player wouldn't be able to skate on it. There would be some type of repercussion. So, James wanted to know, what was Silver going to do about it in Morey's case? Silver pushed back, reminding the players that the league never doled out discipline when they publicly criticized President Donald Trump. Morey was exercising the same liberty when he challenged China. Regardless of the financial fallout of one versus the other, that's not what should matter. THis is just hilarious to me, and show how stupid Lebron and his high school education is. HE's a spoiled brat that lives in a bubble.

James, Anthony Davis, Kyle Kuzma and Rajon Rondo -- to name a few -- all had appearances canceled. One Lakers player, sources told ESPN, had agreed to a $1 million endorsement deal with a Chinese company prior to the trip. When he arrived, poof, it was gone. A seven-figure payday out the window.

0 fricks given. I could care less if all their sponsors are canceled.

After my initial post, it got me thinking... what are the chances the $1m was for AD and it was something LeBron had hooked him up with as part of compensation for not getting 32 as well as waiving his kicker?

Off-topic but I wonder if China will ever seriously compete with the United States in producing NBA-level basketball talent.

Basketball had a huge surge of popularity when Yao played. I think that I recall the Chinese government arranging a marriage between Yao and a female basketball player. Combine a country of a billion with a government that breeds athletes, plus another 50 years?

China was 3rd in the 2016 medal count for the summer Olympics. I'm guessing they now see basketball as just as important for national pride.

For the under 30 crowd in China, they are crazy about basketball. Before I moved recently I was playing lots of basketball with random Chinese undergrads at Penn State. Most of them were 5'6"-5'10", but there were a couple that were 6'4"-6'6" and they were pretty impressive. They were not walking on to the Penn State squad any time soon, but the overall level of play was much better than I expected from random Chinese students. They watched regular season NBA games pretty regularly.

The most annoying thing about playing with kids under 25 these days is that everyone is trying to act like the 2nd coming of Steph and hoists up deep 3 point shots for no reason. Screen and roll/cutting to the hoop/passing are foreign concepts for a lot of these kids - American and foreign.

the CCP keeps track of everybody in China, they are a authoritarian police state

The answer is NO. Unless China bring in more Americans or Europeans to live in China.

The reasons are:

1). Chinese people prefer the kids go to college, get a good education and find a good job. They do not want their kids do sports. To be good at sports, you need spend a lot time training yourself. The time spent on study will be less. Can not compete with other kids. Also the chance to make it in sports is very small.

Just like US, for every kid that makes into NCAA, NFL, NBA, there are thousands of kids that can not graduate from high school.

2). Majority of Chinese are short.

3). China has relaxed immigration policy in sports recently. They are recruitting talents around the world.

One day we may see an all black Chinese team. At that time, we may see a NBA level team.

Anyone actually believe LeBron said this???? The guy cant say a single sentence without including the word "man", yet now we are supposed to believe he has a grasp of terms such as socio-economic and geopolitical. Get the frick outta here.
