You have to pay what the market dictates. And while it seems like a lot, that is unfortunately the market value for a young guy like Parons.

Losing Lin was a positive to this whole thing. And I love Parsons, but he wasn't worth that much.

It could be good for them. But it's a big gamble that he gets that much better. He was pretty bad on D last year and he's never been great at free throws, which might indicate a ceiling on his jump shot.
