Sure but it is pretty funny hearing them bring up a reddit poster on the pod.

Yep trainer contracts would be the hold up from them making a formal announcement
We gotta get all these free agents to round out our roster, but we can't have any movement until those trainer contracts come to fruition!!!

Don't you know how "elaborate" these trainer contracts can be?

Darius Miller. What? This must be a joke. He is a minimum salary kinda player. I have an idea what David is going for here.

Second year non guaranteed. Could be an excellent trade asset for a team in need of an expiring paired with say Moore

Tax effect on earnings in Canada vs LA

Don’t know if anyone has read this Forbes article breaking down the tax implications in Canada vs LA.

After reading it, it would seem that the best thing for kawhi financially would be doing a sign and trade with the clippers if we’re strictly looking at Nba salary and not endorsements. Not sure what the actual difference in endorsement money would be with the lakers trio and him being the face of the clippers in LA, which would arguably be the better team.

He would get paid the highest amount with the raptors signing him and then pay less taxes living in LA. The clippers have assets they could trade to the raptors (gallo, filler, etc), while Lakers really have nothing to offer. He could leave the raptors without leaving them empty handed, get the most money, be in his home town, be face of a franchise, and stay low key.

That’s way too much. He is a terrible player. I have a feeling David sign him to this big number so he can include him in a trade for salary matching purposes.
