Yall forget the Spurs were beating Golden State last year on their home court by 30+ with Kawhi. Then cheap shot Zaza took Kawhi out and the rest is history!!! The spurs team last year would have tested them and probably beat them in 6 games!

Durant, imo is the athletic version of Larry Bird. He can do everything Bird did, except he's athletic. He doesn't seem to have the temperament that Bird had, but everything else, he's got.

The 2004 Pistons had the blueprint for beating the Shaq/Kobe Lakers. They let Shaq get his, frustrated Kobe into taking ridiculously bad/inefficient shots, and took everyone else away. Golden State could do that too.

Kobe shot 38% from the field and 17% from 3 in that series.

That was not a great Laker team. The 2001 version would've destroyed that Pistons team.

Shaq’s Lakers would own them. Who the frick is going to stop him on Golden State’s team? Mamba would lock up Curry and Durant and Thompson are going to miss enough 3’s.

I also think the 2014 Spurs would give them a run. People forget that team decimated Lebron in the finals. A well oiled machine of an offense that had a deeper bench than GS has, Even fricking Patty Mills couldn’t miss. They curb stomped the Heat that year

the awesome Golden State Warrior have given up 15 more pts/game than the 99-00 Lakers did. That is huge

On how many more possessions per game?

And how many more ppg are the warriors scoring than that lakers team? Because you know, the whole scoring more points than the other team thing.

This is in today's defensive culture vs the defensive culture of that time

What does "defensive culture" have to do with percentages?

And how does the difference in "defensive cultures" not account for the difference in points allowed that you referenced earlier?

I mean honestly when you look at the stats it even looks like more of chasm.

I mean sure when you cherry pick them and refuse to be objective.

GSW would blow every one of those teams off the court. GSW's pace of play and their ability to shoot from anywhere on the court is second to none. The offensive talent on this team is amazing. You have two of the best shooting guards of all time playing together and to top it all off you have one of the best scorers to ever play the game on the same team. It is just not fair. I do not care how physical things were in 90's. MJ's bulls are not matching up with this team

Could we go back a little further and pull the Showtime Lakers into the conversation?

I would even put money on Rodman being able to handle Durant. Rodman was 6-7 guarding 6-10 PF's and 7'0 centers. He was quick, strong, agile. One of, if not the best defenders on the bad boys, and the bulls teams

Rodman would break Durant in half.

But Durant is the annoying piece in all of this. It’s only because he’s a bitch that we are even discussing GS being a tough matchup for any team in history.

GS would double Shaq on the catch.

Kobe would check Durant or Thompson not Curry.

Iggy and Draymond doubling Shaq?

He could eat a sandwich on their heads and then teabag their asses when he dunks on them. They have no size or defenders capable of handling Prime Shaq. Prime Shaq is likely the most dominant player of all time. The only thing that would work to slow him down would be Hack-a-Shaq

I don't disagree but team defense has gotten better over the year. Shaq would never once be on an island down there.

The thought of Shaq bullying , yes bullying, GS in the paint warms my heart. They would have to slow the game way down. But that lakers team has a chance with Phil Jackson, Kobe, and Shaq
