Surprised after the 50th round of layoffs that ESPN still has employees

After more than 30 years with the mother ship, Karl has been given his walking papers too.
Another shame is me reading twitter replies on Karl's firing. Seeing things like, "Oh I bet those who were happy Ryan Clark was fired are keeping their mouth shut on Karl's firing."
I think I can speak for most of you on this, but those of us who watch sports for the actual sport aspect and not about the politics of it are not happy to see Karl go. He was a staple for a LONG time and kept it professional at all times. Very simple.

She's also ugly as a mud fence.

It actually shows just how much over-hiring goes on there.

Ryan Clark was involved with 3 reported incidents with fellow ESPN employees that could have escalated into major HR headaches but didn't. Sage Steele was let go, and Daniel Jeremiah and RGIII for whatever reason didn't force the issue. When you take those, add his controversial statements, high salary, and ESPN needing to trim its NFL roster from 90 to 53, he's an easy cut.

Hard to take a company seriously that fires Karl Ravech while paying a guy doing Bert Kreischer schtick $60M a year.
It’s an entertainment company

Nope. Their programming is filled with people like Ryan Clark (massive racist) or Kendrick Perkins (massive r-tard).
The entire network should be flushed of its "talent " except for Laura Rutledge.

Not anymore, at least for him.

On the bright side, he won't be calling the CWS next year. Maybe they'll also send Ed Perez packing.
This place’s never ending beef with PBP guys will always be fascinating to me

Ravech calling CWS games makes no sense when he basically called zero college games all season until everything was on the line. I would much rather keep with the same guys that called all year.

annual ESPN salaries (figures from 2025)
SA Smith - $20M + (he also makes $12M a year from SIRIUS/XM)
Aikman - $18M + for basically 17 NFL games plus playoffs - ridiculous
P McAfee - $17M ... screening idiot "Look at me"
J Buck - $13-15M
A Schefter - $9M ... with social media today breaking stories, he needs to go
M. Greenburg - $6.5M .. such a whiney loser
Kornheiser and Wilbon - $6M each - even more of a joke, who watches them ?

Who exactly are you arguing shouldn't have been laid off?

I still don’t understand why ESPN doesn’t program more sports highlights throughout the day. You can literally rerun last nights highlights hour after hour for a fraction of the cost these insanely expensive talking heads make. Considering how many people are cutting cords I don’t understand why this isn’t a viable option. Go back to the old sportscenter days.

Pretty sure Ravich won't be unemployed for long, if he chooses not to be. He's hands down better at baseball than what NBC has on now

Aside from live sports, does anyone here put ESPN on?
Occasionally McAfee or PTI
Both shows are just shells of what they used to be. McAfee pre-ESPN was must watch for me
