The difference between what the Padres got and the Mets got, for pitchers who are not that dissimilar in production, even factoring in the years of control, is just stunning.

Mets should of held out till deadline, familia is making peanuts for an established closer, and he's a FA after season, so your not on the hook for him.

I'm not saying he will fetch a haul, but why sell on a player this early, when his value goes up at the deadline, because of teams needing bullpen help.

Mets are owned by poors

They'll make the Mets add a prospect to the deal to get him.

Buyer beware. I said when the Tigers signed him, he could post some solid numbers pitching in Comerica since he's a flyball pitcher and that's a big park. Sure enough, 2.69 ERA at home, 4.44 on the road. Fenway would be a nightmare for him.

Main thing is his contact tract, which isn't bad and still a year of control. I believe on another team in a different park he would have different results. I think he would thrive on a team like San Diego much like he did in Oakland.
However, Yankees would be trading for peanuts compared to what they gave up which is why I don't think the move him. Some talk of Gray for Strailey from the Marlins as they both have a similar deal with Strailey being longer.

I want Gray on the Astros. Mainly to replace Keuchel or Morton if we lose them next year. I believe he's salvageable if he can recover the ground tendencies which I think he can if he's allowed to focus on his sinker again. Problem is he'd have no role this year and there's no space to stash him away on the roster.

Wait, what did you call? You mentioned trading Gray in a Machado deal. Gray has no value and Yankees would be selling low him, it is more than likely they don't move him unless they get another underperforming pitcher
You won't recoup the prospects you gave up and no team will give up great prospects in return for him.

I think he could be a good fit for the Astros. Gray and the Yankees for whatever reason just seems like they don't fit at all. He is still young....so whatever struggles he is currently having can still be fixed.

Apparently the Astros are "all in" on acquiring Britton even after last year's experience dealing with the O's.

Source: #Astros “all in” on Zach Britton and last year’s negated trade will have no impact on if they get him. #Orioles just want best best deal period.
