The last time the #Yankees had a 9-game losing streak, only two active players today were even alive: Rich Hill and Adam Wainwright.
The last time the Yankees had a 10-game losing streak?
You would have to be 110 years old today to have witnessed it:
May 21-June 6, 1913.

Soooo... the Rangers 2.5 games up on the Blue Jays who are on the outside looking in of the Wild Card race right now.
Usually, I love August baseball. So many games feel like playoff games, and the Rangebaws are 20 games out of a wild card spot by this time.

This year, I'm nervous and worried about them even making the playoffs, but I will keep the faith!

Pitch clock

Fans in East Coast would take the train, to get to 7pm game, then watch a shite show, 4 hour + al. Ball game. And head back to trains at 1130 to midnight and get home at 1am. On work/school nights. People got tired of it

Decreasing the time length of games. Maybe the rule change on shifts too. Offensive numbers are up across the board over last year. Offense sells to the wider audience.

Shohei Ohtani must have an effect to some degree. And then there are population changes to factor in. Asians and Hispanics have increased the most in population in the US in recent years.
I'd guess there has been more interest from Asian-Americans in MLB because of Ohtani. Then you also have Masataka Yoshida this year (in the running for AL ROY). I know there are some Asian people that attend all of Ohtani's games, home and away. And we know there's an affinity for baseball among Hispanics.

Attendance is still well below the peak year of 2007. (US population is estimated to have increased by well over 30 million since then.)

It is crazy to think that if the Yankees lose tonight and tomorrow, they will have the same amount of wins as the Nats. If they lose both and the Mets win tonight, they will have the same amount of wins.

The hot and cold pattern since the all star break has been a head scratcher. Win the first 6 after the break then finished 2-7 to wrap up July. Then Aug 1st-Aug 16th they go 12-3. Currently on a 6 game losing streak.

Pitching hasn’t been great over the last several games. The rotation really needs Eovaldi back. The bullpen has been shite. I wish they would have push a little harder at the trade deadline to strengthen the pen. Blowing a lot of games in the 8th and 9th.

Yep. And they're looking straight up silly at the plate the last week. Getting fanned left and right. Ugly...

Ohtani taken out in the 2nd inning today for fatigue. Does he keep pitching?

Good on the Angels for that. I think they should considering shutting him down since they have no playoff hopes but I realize that is not what fans including myself want to see...

I’m randomly watching the Rockies-Rays and the Rays were just cheated out of winning this game.

Bottom 9, Bases loaded, 2 out, grounder to 3rd, throws wide, runner CLEARLY safe, replay upheld the out call

This was really, really bad.

Saw it on MLB.tv Big Inning. They won the game, however.

Also, for poster little avery, Judge just hit three (3) homeruns in a game for the first time in his career.

Shohei Ohtani won't pitch again this season due to a UCL tear.

He'll finish with 10 wins, becoming the first player in MLB history to have 40 HR as a batter and 10 wins as a pitcher in a season.

Acuna wrapped that up before the break.
