In a vacuum it would cost both a major prospect and legitimate major leaguer with years of control
But idk what this new ownership wants to do

cool?
I honestly dont know, only thing I have heard was the main piece was one of our pitchers. So Reyes(most likely), weaver, or Flaherty. Also since we have way too many OF, I bet O'niell or Sierra would be thrown in there + something else.

I would have gone with puig at rf but can't get upset over going with hayward

That is impressive Gordon came up as 3B, but has moved to LF and won that many Gold Gloves.

Gordon really transformed himself. I realize he may not have lived up to the hype he had while at Nebraska, but he has done a great job of finding his niche in the majors.

Well deserved for Barnhart.

I've read that we could get Stanton without giving up a top prospect because of the money situation.
I forget who it was but he suggested the Cards 5th and 7th best prospects could get a deal done.

Yeah, he really has. He and Moustakas looked like busts early in their career, but both have really turned their career around.

John Lackey and Bartolo Colon both intend to pitch in 2018

Is it at all odd that not a single player from either World Series team won a GG?
ETA: And I do realize that these awards are based on the regular season and voted on before the postseason.

That would be amazing. I just think miami knows they can get a better player than that in return

Nightengale added “The Cardinals have both, so they’re in a great position. But you don’t have to give up a top prospect for Stanton because you’re taking on all the money. This is a guy who cleared waivers. Anybody could have had him for just money back in July and August.”
Nightengale still believes the current home run king could land in the Midwest.
“You want to go to a great franchise that’s in the playoff hunt year after year? And every player in baseball will tell you there’s no easier place to play,” Nightengale said. “This place wins and you don’t have all the scrutiny. You don’t have all the media wars like you do in Boston or people tearing you apart. It’s a very comfortable place; over 40,000 fans a night. I think that’s enough to sell him right there.”

For instance, the Marlins are widely expected to seek top prospects in exchange for Stanton. If that is the case, the Cardinals could then put together a package made up of players who are considered among the best in the Minor Leagues.
The Cardinals could feature right-handed pitcher Jack Flaherty and outfielder Tyler O'Neill as headlining pieces in a trade package for Stanton. The two are among the game's top 100 prospects, as seen on MLB.com, so having both of them included in a trade offer could get the Marlins interested.
I would do that in a heart beat, even if the Marlins only eat 40-50m.

The price for stanton has already been established:
You take his contract= throw in to start in OF
Marlins eat part of his deal= at least 2 of your top5ish prospects and another 2 of your top25.
Marlins are cutting costs, i told you fools this when they were being sold, the new owners do not have a lot of cash, they could barely meet the sales price.
Owners already stated, they will be in the black. Which means big contracts being dealt, team friendly deals dealt for top prospects.
