States sometimes give the COMPANY tax breaks to come to them
Newsflash, the universities football programs almost always avoid taxes period. So that’s your comparison
Show me where a company gets to have its employees exempt from taxes and maybe your comparison here would make a lick of sense

Just for clarification, Mississippi is phasing out state income tax anyway
It only goes to no state income tax around 2040, if several factors are met before that.
They are reducing the tax though throughout the next few years.

Still have to report on Federal tax forms which is more than most state taxes. Not sure this is the win that the state of Miss thinks it is. But does slap the faces of all other state employees.

The truth is it’s the government picking winners and losers because it wants to win at football

Yea that’s exactly what I’m saying. Like when the government picks winners (giving tax rebates to California based tech companies) vs losers (the general population of the state).
Winning at football generates a lot of revenue for the state and the university.

Imagine a working baw who doesn't give two shits about college athletics... just trying to get by on what he makes, and then they're told they are now second class citizens to a group of people who play games for a living... I'd riot and burn it all down
And in many cases, aren’t from Mississippi and upon leaving Mississippi they will never return.

If I’m living in Mississippi, I’m demanding my employer list my wages as NIL

I think this is my red line with college sports. If these motherfrickers don’t have to pay taxes, I’m going to lose my mind.
Why you pocket watching 20 year old kids?
How are they preventing you from doing what you want in life?

Comparing a kid receiving NIL money to tax incentives to lure businesses to your community and state is one of the worst analogies I have yet to see
it really is
I would be fricking pissed about this. I love LSU but frick that
Thats why i will not donate to NIL. Not gonna donate so the back up QB that is 20 can make more money that I do. That makes zero sense.

They are making it more attractive to prospective recruits.
Better recruits usually means better football.

If not tax on NIL passes in Mississippi, you will see the fastest a piece of legislation has ever moved through the Alabama state government and signed into law. Even if they have to raise Gov. Meemaw from her drunken coma at 12:30 in the afternoon, they will get that shite done.

Just wait until California taxes NIL for any games played in their state.

We should probably make LSU tax-exempt then, oh wait

Every business should sign their employees to a NIL and pay minimum wage s for tax purpose.
