Why do you think Mulkey has always had a "dream team", guys who are part of the program to scrimmage against the girls daily. It makes the girls better and used to more physical play.

This is probably one of the best discussions I’ve read on this board. Most everything posted has been factual, no one going crazy or emotional.
I’ve watched as much LSU WBB as possible this year in large part because of their play last year, but kind of knew Iowa was ready for them last night. I will pay more attention to them in the future, but know going in that the level of play isn’t the same as watching the boys.
Btw, I’ve never been to a men’s or women’s professional basketball game.

I'll watch a Phoenix Mercury game twice a year, just to see Sophie Cunningham run around.

And enjoy LV Aces vs NY Liberty..two stacked rosters.

Otherwise, I need a wager to hold any interest.

It depends on the person. As hyped as she was I don’t recall her getting the same type of exposure as some of these other girls.

I don’t think wnba money is enough to be a factor in their decisions to go pro. Of course they can make NIL at either level, but I still wonder if being a current college star has more marketability over a wnba player. It probably still depends upon each individual.

Well, Reese makes money because of her personality on a big platform. The platform will be smaller in the W and she probably won’t be the star player she is now.

She’s not going to suddenly quit making money off social media, but she’s going to slowly lose relevancy. She will be less popular in 5 years than she is now. It doesn’t matter if she believes this or not. Nobody believes they will come back down to earth when they are at the top.

I think this is a very fair assessment for Reese. Clark is more marketable but I agree her peak will be between now and the end of the Paris Olympics in 4 months.

However the one thing that no one has mentioned is the option to play in other countries. Salaries are down after the Ukraine war and Griner being imprisoned, but the top remaining leagues pay a lot better than non-national NIL deals.

I realize maybe 4-6 players have true national NIL deals and I think the OP is valid in his predictions for those players, other than maybe Clark

My brother was in a frat at Baylor. He said that his fraternity B team, not even best players in his frat, the B team, played Baylor WBB when Mulkey was there, and they'd win by 25+ every time.

Not saying your story is false, but why would the fraternity B team play Baylor’s women’s team instead of their best players? That just doesn’t make sense.

But most women’s teams will have guys that they play against to make them better. There’s mainly just such a difference in athleticism, but I thought the women shot better than the guys who played.

That is very stated. It’s not bitter or mean it is just a fair and reasonable prediction. I think women should stay as long as they can in college. Especially the marketable ones.

Reese has a market of LSU fans, arguably the best all around sports fan base in the country, to pull for her and prop her up.

At some point, people need to remember NIL has Likeness as part of it, and nobody wants to use these ugly arse giant women or Caitlin Clark’s ugly pale little boy looking likeness to promote something.

Why would Gordon keep dumping money into Angel when the next big five star phenom is actually at LSU continuing the winning ? Why would any national brand, besides maybe Gatorade, want Caitlin Clark as the face of the brand ? Come on

These girls are moronic for not staying in college as long as they can.
So the girl in the OP is a moron because you can't name WNBA players despite her telling you that she's made more money her rookie year in the WNBA than in her final year of college?

There has definitely been adds featuring WNBA players. I've spotted a couple, but you likely just didn't recognize them. Not a dig btw.

I don't watch much ESPN outside of actual ballgames so I very well could have missed them.

Per ON3, Clark's NIL valuation is $3.1 million while Reese is $1.8 million.

Her popularity score, or whatever these companies use to determine people’s value, is going to plummet. The end of the line for women’s sports (outside tennis or golf) is college. Fans will cheer for their school no matter what.

Fact. I will never watch Angel Reese play a pro game, and I know I’m not alone.

If the WNBA fails to capitalize on Caitlyn Clark they should hang it up.

Just wanted to provide some context after doing more digging.

I can believe that Aaliyah Boston made more money in the WNBA as opposed to college ball. But the issue is, and I think others have pointed it out as well, she doesn't have nearly the starpower that a Caitlin Clark or Angel Reese does.

Despite having a successful college career including being a champion, POY, #1 draft pick, ROY, and being named to the all-star game as a rookie. She only has about 200k followers on IG. For reference, Caitlin has 1.3 million followers, and Angel has 2.7 million followers.

Clark and Reese's starpower will never be bigger than it is right now. But they won't lose any money immediately by getting drafted. That being said, once they have been in the WNBA for about 5-7 years, all of those endoresements would have probably died down by then.

It doesn’t matter who is paying it. She is still making more money

It is a good point, but the WNBA is not really a business. It’s more of subsidized sports for women. There isn’t that much money to be made off the WNBA because it makes no money. She has to somehow make herself a brand separate from the WNBA if she wants to really make a lot of money. That is why I said her decision is highly individualized.

Yep.

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are much bigger names than Aliyah Boston.
