There were several items but the latest surge came from the Golden Gala Ladies, all of the Baton Rouge's most influential women (in their minds) and their being butthurt that Football Coach Andy Martin was demoted as the athletic director which was a sizeable cut in pay and a move from as an Administrator back to a teacher. The people that know Andy know he wanted to coach one more year because his son will be a senior next year, and he wanted to coach his son's last year. Andy was rightfully demoted from Athletic Director because he played two different kids from Liberty High School in consecutive years causing University to be removed from the football playoffs last year. Any coach knows a kid that plays across the street cannot play for you the next season. You have to do a Bonafide move into your area or move back to a home zone. This was neither. Andy handled the situation poorly as possible. He never admitted that he made a mistake. He blamed it on some paperwork which is crap because all the paperwork would have told him that the kids were not eligible to play. He sent the e-mail to the parents and then his sister-in-law who sells Amway (she also moved her daughter to Parkview because she could not play at University) copied and pasted it on social media to try and gain some sympathy for Andy which just infuriated everyone that knew the truth. Andy played two ineligible kids and got his team kicked out of the playoffs. University sued the LHSAA, lost the lawsuit, and then had to self-report 20 plus clerical errors and that they had played 7 ineligible athletes once the old athletic director did a self-audit. It is amazing that Andy still has a job. The current football parents minus the ones that are friends with Martin are furious that he didn't tell the team before they played Madison Prep that he had done the math and knew they had to beat Madison Prep and Port Allen to make the playoffs. He allowed Keylan Moses and two other players to sit out of the game as a precautionary move instead of playing them. Had University won both games - all of this crap would have gone away. Instead, no one from the school - the coach, the athletic director, a supervisor has taken ownership that they screwed up 20 plus pieces of LHSAA paperwork. Andy Martin is a nice guy but has underachieved at university. Andy has now been upset by Dunham, St Charles Catholic, and kicked out of the playoffs in consecutive years with a roster that has beaten Catholic High School and will be allowed to coach another year to finish with his son That doesn't matter as long as the queen od sparkles and the ladies of the Golden Gala have another great shindig.

We still have a tough road.
