For them people comparing his deal to Cabrerra's, sports contracts pay based on past performance, not future production. It seems counterintuitive, but that's really the way it works. Trout will probably get at least $200 mil on his next contract even if he tails off over the next 6 years and is just above average instead of great

Miggy is 2 time defending MVP and the only Triple Crown winner in 40 years. Trout's had two great seasons, but it's no where near what Miggy has done.
this is not why Cabrera got such more money.

Exactly, and Miggy has never had a season as good as Trout's past two IMO. If both were totally unrestricted free agents and both player's only goal was to maximize dollar value, Trout would have gotten a bigger contract than Miggy. And if he would have signed for enough years, it could have approached half a billion.

Only from a WAR stand point did Trout have a better season

Lets not forgot Miggy won the damn triple crown

The only thing Trout really had Miggy in is speed and base running.

Trout also provides way more defensive and positional value. I don't think WAR is perfect, but Trout was worth 3 more WAR than Miggy last year. I don't think the errors bars are that big.

When Trout's contract is up, he'll be making more than $30mil, I wonder if that's a precursor the massive dollars he'll get on his second.

Here's hoping the Angels don't allow him to hit the open market. Extend him again in 5 years would be smart.

I hope he gets to the free agent market so we can see the crazy arse deals being thrown at him.

That's a really good deal for trout. Find anyone who got that deal with 4 years of control left.

How much higher the Angels would be willing to go with their current payroll situation will be interesting.

There is no NFL team in LA, the baseball teams are making bank. The Angels signed a 3 Billion dollar deal with Fox Sports for their local games (3rd tier rights)

Then why is Miggy's deal more than Trout's?

There are a lot of ifs in your statement. But yes, coming off the past two seasons, if both were free agents Trout could probably have signed for more money than Miggy.

The odds of Trout being better over the next six years are pretty good, at which point he'll probably sign a bigger deal than Miggy's.

How much would you pay Trout and Miggy for just 2014? Just a hypothetical, but do you think Trout is worth $20 million more than Miggy this year?

Well no shite, he's 22.

Miggy turns 31 in like 3 weeks.
