The host of the best studio show in sports television lost his adopted son today, at the age of 33, to the degenerative condition that has made his life such a struggle.

They have been an inspirational story for many people over the years, and now many of us are grieving with a good man who was a better Dad.

Ernie and Michael

It takes a huge person to adopt someone and love them as their own flesh and blood.

Ernie’s dad is a huge part of my childhood. Him and Skip Carey, Pete Van Weiren, and John Sterling. Good times. Thoughts and prayers to Ernie and his family, and Godspeed to Michael.

The most over used word is the word amazing.. But the word amazing fits perfectly for Ernie Johnson and his wife Cheryl.

Honestly, i can see Ernie enveloped in his TNT cohosts arms and a lot of tears being shed. Very sad… I remember seeing that story a few years ago and I never forgot it. Ernie is a hero.

That’s so awful. His son was his whole world. Things like this don’t normally even register to me, but after watching that story several years ago, it make me feel incredibly sad for EJ and his family.

Didn't Ernie know he had the degenerative condition when he adopted him as well?

No doubt about that. I can't stand awards shows, but I will never forget Ernie at the ESPYs giving his most outstanding sportsman of the year trophy to Stuart Scott's daughters.
