Obviously someone in her position should probably never frame it like that, given she's been blessed with the opportunity to play a game that largely hasn't existed until now and enjoy a reasonably good livelihood despite limited ability and fairly low natural interest in her profession.

But certainly the USWNT got themselves into a spot where winning world titles was the expectation and pretty much anything else was failure. Granted, they got there because we largely invented the women's game in any significant sense and for a long time there were few if any real competitors, but nonetheless, I get the concept.
