I think Bonds playing 10 more seasons is why his 162 game average is lower

Bonds second half of his career he averaged more homeruns than his first half. Age 35-39 he average 52 homeruns a season. McGwire called it quits at 35.

That is not the conversation here.

Counter with your own statement as to why McGwire isn't the Goat.

I like it when people pretend drugs weren’t around in Hank Aaron’s era. Just in the 1998 era.

Louie Simmons said in an interview he knew many players of a certain 1960s NFL team that were using.

But McGwire average: .263
Bonds average: .298

McGwire strikeouts: 1596
Bonds strikeouts: 1539

McGwire OBP: .394
Bonds OBP: .444

McGwire SLG: .588
Bonds SLG: .607

It is not even close who was the better hitter

If we're going better hitter vs better home run hitter, it's Ruth.

But McGwire average: .263
Bonds average: .298
Ruth Average: .342

McGwire strikeouts: 1596
Bonds strikeouts: 1539
Ruth strikeouts: 1330

(162 game average)
McGwire strikeouts: 138
Bonds strikeouts: 83
Ruth strikeouts: 86

McGwire OBP: .394
Bonds OBP: .444
Ruth OBP: .474

McGwire SLG: .588
Bonds SLG: .607
Ruth SLG: .690

Ruth was legit, people forget about that nowadays.

Bonus stats as a pitcher lifetime
94-46 ERA: 2.28 107 complete games, 17 Shutouts, 4 saves

162 game average pitching

21-10 ERA: 2.28 23 complete games, 4 Shutouts, 1 save

Griffey had the most beautiful swing I ever seen and there will never be better.

94 was his year. The strike still stings to this day.

My passion was forever diminished after that strike, but Griffey's season that year before it was as good as I've ever seen anybody play baseball in my lifetime

The roids argument is so lazy and played out.

McGwire is the GOAT of when he hit it I thought it was a lazy fly ball that went out.

Bonds has the prettiest swing.

I grew up a Reds fan. Big Red Machine. Eric Davis 44. Nasty Boys. Barry Larkin. Jose Rijo. Griffey was overrated as a Red.

Also 49 Hrs in his rookie season all natural.

Looking back, I have my doubts he was clean early in his career. It’s often assumed he was clean simply because he wasn’t as massive as became later in his career.

To bad he wasn’t close to the others you mentioned as an all around player.

When discussing things like this
for entertainment purposes, it’s reasonable to make list using certain nuanced criteria. Obviously, McGwire was not in the same category as those guys. But if you’re looking at guys who had one major calling card that was “power”, thinking of guys like Dave Kingman and McGwire is ok

actualyl big mac was an awesome pitcher in HS and had scholly to USC as a pitcher. USC was by far best program back then. But he was so good at hitting they decided not to let him pitch anymroe.

no he wasnt 5 tool like griffey or as good all around as bonds with the stolen bases etc.....but at bat for at bat, Big Mac is best HR hitter of all time.

So, HA had tons more at bats, and Mac and bb cheated with steroids to come close to what ruth did in the 20's... after spending several seasons as a pitcher.

Smh.
Ruth hit more Homer's than entire teams.
The records may have fallen, but the dominance is still king.

ruth took sheep testicles serum aka steroids so shut the frick with your arrogance, he admitted to that

hank has admitted to taking speed before games for an edge, again another PED... again shut the frick up with your arrogance

they were using in the mlb in the late 60s-2000. became bigger and bigger % throughout the years as they learned strength helped. before that in the late 40-70s they were popping greenies

before that it was other things like sheep testicles serum and other shite that didnt work and made people sick.

testosterone was approved for medical use in 1939....are we to assume baseball players used everything but that? dianbol was released in 58...everyone took it for an advantage except those moral high ground mlb players right?

yet SI released an article in Nov of 1960 talking about the use of speed, tranqualizers and other PEDs being used in elite sports...but year nobody used steroids until 1998...yet the dodgers team doctor was warning about Steroids and other PEDs in 1969

mlb players watch the east germans destroy the world using tbol in the early 70s....but yea they are too moralistic to take any until 1998 even though millions were on the line for them :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

yet i know for a fact behind the scene guys with balco and also patrick arnold before balco were creating and distributing designer non dectable drugs as early as the late 80s and 1990 specifically for the major sports leagues and their high paying customers.

some of you are some naive fricks, thats for sure. or just arrogant as hell
