I agree that Favre either took a dive on that play or it was set up to gift the sack to Strahan. But Jesus, Gastineau, you don't have to literally cry about it decades later.

And if anything, we should just all blame Favre for helping create the gigantic media monster that Strahan eventually became. That's the biggest downside to all of it.

I can't believe that sack happened fricking 23 (!) years ago. Getting old sucks.

You're right. If it weren't for that sack, Strahan wouldn't be sitting next to Howie Long.
Between that, and making Curley Hallman look good enough to get the LSU job, Favre has a lot to answer for.

How pathetic. Whining about a record and now a cash grab. Loser

that sack should not have been included in official stats.
Why not? If the answer is “because it’s obvious that it was a dive” then you don’t have a legitimate answer.

QBs take dives all the time when they’re about to get sacked. It’s not like Favre did something that had never been done before

I couldn’t stand that showboating idiot when he was playing, he deserves nothing.

And I guess Favre should have just let strahan clock him.

Gastineau is a shithead. A decent chance he wasted money on this pointless lawsuit just to keep his name in the press.

Gastineau Has always seemed like a prick to me. Don’t know if that’s true or not. But he is absolutely 100% correct on the underlying point that it was complete bullshite for Farve to take that “sack” in order to get Strahan the record. Embarrassing for all involved.

I mean it is a weak sack.

But don’t sue. Looks worse.

What a cry baby. He absolutely has no case against ESPN for using something they filmed. That is not defamatory.

I'm not old enough to remember this, and maybe I am missing something, but it does not look that egregious. Favre couldn't avoid that. Blame the OL if anything.

I know more context is needed, but everything I read displaysthat he’s a real stand up guy….

- “Gastineau has been married three times.”

- “He was estranged from both children in 2010”

- “Shortly after his release from prison in 2001 Gastineau claimed he had put his turbulent past behind him after he had a religious conversion to faith in Jesus Christ.”

- “In 1984, Gastineau was found guilty of assaulting a patron at Studio 54“

- “In 1991, Gastineau was arrested for picking up a package of amphetamine pills at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.”

- “In September 2000, Gastineau was sentenced to 18 months in jail after failing to complete an anger management course after hitting his second wife Patricia.”

Gastineau is a sad character at this point, living in the past. I feel sorry for him.

Al Baker had an even 23, but he played before the sack stats were "official."

Gastineau is Jaguars lady fan

Have you ever seen them both in the same place? Yeah, thought so.

Even if you don’t count that last sack that has Gatineau all in a tizzy, he still wouldn’t have the record because of this dude named T.J. Watt
