People are over exaggerating the amount of decision making he did. There is no way (for example) he wanted David Griffin to leave when that was a guy he always liked.

So is this LeBron admitting that his strategy, moves and decisions in Cleveland were a failure? Does anyone truly think he wasn’t calling the shots? Or that he couldn’t get JaVale Magee or Rajon Rondo to play with him?

Why did he need to go to LA for this plan? Better yet when will he admit his plan (curating a roster with shooters who couldn’t get stops) in Cleveland was a strategic disaster against a team with the most historical offensive firepower in Association History?

It’s cute that he talks about playing 1 on 5...considering sometimes it looks like 0-5 against the GSW.

This is the huge thing the LeGM crowd ignores. LeBron was a big Griffin fan and Gilbert canned him for a guy LeBron was not close to.

Remember how bad Lebron was off the ball in Miami? Specifically when DWade had the ball?

His first year there, sure. He was great off the ball the other three years, '14 especially.

He still ranks highly in off ball scoring efficiency, there's just not much volume there with him playing with players who can't create.

The very fact that you have to write an article to “explain” the process means it’s not well thought out.

Not really. Sometimes it's good to go against the grain. Take the Warriors for example. Before them, if you said you were going to build a team around three point shooting you got laughed out of the building. Now, the whole league builds their team that way.

Not saying it's going to work or not, just saying it's not a terrible plan just because everybody thinks it's stupid.

quote:

For instance, if the Lakers had signed Kevin Durant - there would be no need to describe “how” it would work.

So if the Lakers had signed KD, all of a sudden it's a well thought out plan? I don't think much thought goes in to signing one of the top 3 players in the world

The Laker's signings after signing LeBron are just like the Cavs. Role players. That article is so bs. Sure, the players are different from the Cavs players, but no matter what role they play, they are still "role" players based on what LeBron wants.

And how long will Luke Walton last as Coach fo the LeBron Lakers?

Damn. Magic going to turn late prime Lebron into one of those players that can't get out of the first round.

Signing MVP level players is a good plan. It is just tougher to execute than it is to formulate.

What Magic is doing is very different

The Lakers are bringing in players on one year contracts.

I their goal is next year to have Ball, Ingram, Leonard, and James under contract with 20 mil. To spend on one year players or to resign players from this year that worked well with Lebron.

This team will remain fluid with roster flexibility. Something that could only be done with trades while in Cleveland.

This.

Lance Stephenson plays positions 1-3? Behind Rondo/Ball , KCP/ Hart and Bron / Ingram / Kuzma . Unless the Lakers gut their roster for an All-NBA type or suffer injuries Stephenson minutes will be small.

LeBron wants facilitators and Rondo was the best available in Free agency. I'm sure his defense is better than IT.

The only thing I’ll give the Lakers credit for is signing these guys to a 1 yr deal.

Aside from that, and of course getting lebron, the roster looks like a disaster for the 2018-19 season.

I’m not saying he’s Ben Simmons spot up shooting, but he’s not Klay Thompson either. Point is you don’t take the world’s greatest on-ball player and design an offense for him to play off the ball and expect to get your best returns

This sounds like a spin job for half assed signings.

Rondo? Really?

Lebron should have gone to Philly if he wanted to play with a PG that cant shoot. At least Simmons can defend and rebound.

This hits the nail on the head. LA is building short term commitments only and loading for flexibility next summer. Deng will be expiring and a big chip next summer too.

The Cavs always had max money in Kyrie and Love. The Lakers haven't rushed bad deals that lock them in long term like the Cavs did after the championship.

Well yes. KD plays a traditional role. He’s a wing scorer, primarily off the ball, with some on ball ability to make him well rounded. That role has existed in every basketball offense since Julius Erving. KD is tall for that role, but it’s an asset for him

Lebron plays everything but a traditional role. Lebron is a facilitator with strong driving ability and size. Almost no one has been built like he is, and play the style he plays. Magic Johnson is the best example and Magic technically played a completely different position. Lebron requires a different type of offense, he’s not going to make the best use of his abilities as an off ball wing scorer

Magic is building an offense with a true distributor (Rondo) to be the primary ball handler. Not Lebron. Lebron has been the primary ball handler since year 1 in Miami, and even most of his Cleveland years before that. Forcing him to completely change his play style late in his career is going to set him up for failure

McGee is a moron, but he did look extremely impressive defensively during the playoff run this year. Bigs that are capable guarding wing players don't exactly grow on trees.
