I can sit on my couch, with 24 beers I bought for the same price of 2 at the stadium, and watch EVERY SINGLE GAME any given Sunday. Why the frick do I want to drive down to a game with no tailgating all day like an LSU gameday experience and miss work driving back on Monday? It would be different if I lived in an NFL town, but I don't.

haha, I'm a college student but I was working off the 50k a year average which is about 1k a week. Half would be 500. For a family of four, that's about as much as it'd cost. Pretty simple.

The product is as good as ever. The sport is more popular than its ever been.

The creeping "Goodel-ization" of pro football is slowly sapping it's appeal. The elimination of any semblance of defense (defenseless receivers, Tom Brady rules shielding QBs, ticky-tack helmet contact fouls) are frustrating to core fans. Personally, I have gotten to the point where I'm ambivalent about watching pro football on TV.

I don't think that has any effect. People watch the NFL regardless, old man.

The NFL is an absolutely terrible live experience the last game I went to was like 6 years ago and I am sure its even worse now.

I think instant replay has taken a lot out of the in-stadium experience as well. It's hard to have a spontaneous reaction and genuine excitement when something happens because in the back of your mind you know any big play is going to be reviewed.

So instead of guy catches touchdown then the crowd goes fricking berserk it's more like guy catches touchdown and the crowd goes yay. great. let's see if the refs uphold it.

Takes a lot of the fun out of being there.

game starts at noon, what do you really have time to do other than park and go? And there isn't great tailgating around the Superdome.

I really think that football is better on TV. Not even taking into account the prices, the game is better on TV. If there's nothing else about the live experience that makes it worth the time, and money, then why not take in the game on the better medium.

I'm at a point in my life where watching on TV is the much better option than going to any game

I love going to LSU games, but 1 trip to BR a year is enough. Its a blast, but a long, draining day. Nothing beats the in stadium atmopshere, but at home or at a sports bar, I can watch multiple games. No line for the Bathroom and its much, much closer. Better and cheaper food options. Sorry Roge, I'll go to a couple of Texans games, but overall, I'd rather be at my buddies house watching 2 games on his big screen TV's

well duh, also sucks when there is no real parking lots around

In places there is no real big time college ball the NFL fans go all out in the parking lot esp on the east coast and in Pittsburgh/ Cleveland. That is the best NFL tailgating you will find.

It's not LSU tailgating, but it's still fun. I know of a few bigger groups that have a setup that is very similar to a good LSU setup. One thing that is also different is that most games are at noon so that is different than LSU games.

yea, way too early. I won't even be blackout by then unless I get up earlier. Then I have to either drive back the 5 hours drunk or stay the night and miss work Monday.

ok if the NFL is falling apart surely I should be able to score cheap Saints tickets, both single game and season??????

You mean I can get season tickets?????

When I'm 40? (I'm 26 now)

maybe i'll notice it when we start getting blacked out again...

nah the Saints have 8 home games plus 1 or 2 playoffs that all matter, that fans need to be up for, as opposed to maybe 2 or 3 teams that could realistically come to Tiger Stadium and win. Also you don't have costly bowl trips around the holidays and don't have to worry about "student-ATHLETES"

I think this thread should be geared more towards people a little closer to the city the team plays. I don't expect someone 5 hours away to make many games. People living up to an hour away should be more of the target audience for this argument.

No one said the NFL is falling apart. It's just that it has been reported this past year was the lowest attendance figures since 2002.
