I think they’re a solid closer away from winning the division.

La. Braves fans are lucky because the games are available on MLB.tv streaming. Astros are blacked out on MLB.tv all over La, even in NOLA.

False. 1980 was my first year. I followed the games on the radio in BR

You have a good bit of Yankees in Nola because of the oldtimer instilling this in their sons.

It was always Astros & Braves for me. Parents use to take us to Astroworld and catch a game that same weekend, and obviously every Gen X - Millennial has an attachment to the Braves dynasty of the late 80’s-90’s because of TBS. Add that with the killer B’s era it made awesome trips during the summer to the astrodome/juice box and Fulton/Turner field.

False. NOLA and BR had the Houston Sports Network in the late 80's and 90's that showed Astros/Rockets games - its the precursor for what eventually became Fox Sports SW/Ballys SW/FanDuel SW. About ten years ago the Stros switched to AT&T and Fox pivoted to the Rangers.

I grew up an Astros fan because everyone else around here was Braves/Cubs fans - really was a big fan of Biggio.

Side note, I loved watching baseball on WGN and TBS, the voices became so familiar. It just didn’t affect my allegiance to the Cardinals.

Good for you for staying loyal, I was a Cub fan before cable - saw a Cub game on t.v. in the early 70's and fell in love with the team and the stadium as a 7-year old. Saw a fan catch a home run ball out on the street and thought it was the coolest thing.

And then when we got cable in about 1983 and I could watch the Cubs every day I was in heaven. Went to my first game at Wrigley and 93 and have gone to at least one series there almost every year since.

Same here. but never liked the Braves because the Yankees and Braves were bother very good in the 90s. We got lucky to watch Sammy Sosa with the Sox and Cubs his whole career!
Definitely been to more Astros games than any other team.

In early '70s, we had a few channels on TV, one of them was a Houston station. We were able to watch Astros baseball for a few years before cable came out and the station was eliminated. I listened to Astros games on the radio at night. Early in the '80s, TBS came along and the Braves were on TV every day. We watched the games but I was still an Astros fan first. I did love Dale Murphy and pulled for the Braves when they didn't play the Astros. When they traded Murphy and Glavine threw at him I was done with the Braves and hated them ever since.

That's not true at all. If you were a kid in Louisiana who wanted to see a MLB game Houston was your easiest place to do so.

We’ve never had a team (and the minor league team is gone) so we’re all free agent fans in NOLA… of course you’ll have some Yankees but that’s because they’re the Yankees

Not all of Louisiana… NOLA is almost as close to Atlanta as we are to Houston, and Dallas is closer to NW Louisiana

There are three things that I have never met.

A Mariners fan
A Blue Jays fan
Someone who did not have an opinion about the Cardinals or Yankees

I am a Cards fan and worked Summer League Softball, so I was in the score booth listening to Shannon Buck, Grand, etc. My grandfather had a contract with the Yankees when Mantle was in Joplin for his groceries, so he was a HUGE Yankees fan.

Been a Rangers fan my whole life, growing up in NELA there seemed to be a fair amount of Rangers/Braves fans.

The nice thing about mlb.tv is that you can follow any team now. I think when Houston was good for a time in the 80s they started to build a fan base as the closest MLB team.

My guess is there are more Braves fans than Cubs fan if you follow the cable tv logic.

You must be young, or not from Louisiana. Tons of families would do Astro World/Water World and then an Astros game at the Astro Dome during the summer.
