A lot of people have looked at that look logo for years or when the Hurricanes have used it for throwbacks on occasion and never realized the H and W were there. It is a damn good logo, props to whoever designed that.
The logo designer recently passed away LINK

One of the issues that always gets confused in these relocation sagas is that it's not always about a "deserving" market alone. It's a confluence of factors, starting with ownership, then corporate base, TV markets, and finally building size/long-term prospects.
Looking at the overall landscape, SLC *probably* has the best mix, as Jazz owner has worked with NHL in the past. But I wouldn't count out KC. They have everything needed, and I'm sure Mahomes/Hunt would be involved. The Sprint Center was built for hockey (Penguins were supposrd to relocate there) and doesn't have an anchor tenant, nor any winter sports competition.
Bring back the Scouts.

How old is it? The newer NHL rinks are incredible. I'm sure the new NBA ones are too. A lot of those are shared though. I was pissed when I found out the Red Wings allowed the Pistons to share their new Little Ceasars arena
Isn’t that pretty standard? Who owns that arena?

I always thought that the NBA would come back to Kansas City before the NHL. It is in a center of college hoop support that goes beyond KU and MU with the other colleges in the region that play hoops.
The Pacers have done well and have shown that a region that loves college basketball will support the NBA and both can thrive in the same area.

I was pissed when I found out the Red Wings allowed the Pistons to share their new Little Ceasars arena. What a stupid name. At least if they wanted to name it after the ownership (the Ilitich family owns and started Little Ceasars and also owns the Wings and Tigers) They should have named it Little Caesars Palace. I guess that would be too close to the Palace of Auburn Hills where the Pistons used to play.
I was surprised that the Pistons gave up on their suburban market. The irony is that the Pistons had their fanbase in more upscale Oakland County than Wayne County. I always thought they would build a new arena in the Silverdome/Palace area. Plenty of room. They had no problem selling out The Palace when winning. I wonder if the recent lack of success has led them to take a hit in the pocketbook, but the tv money from the NBA is so good. Pistons must have gotten such a great deal to move that it makes sense for them to move.

Cumming is a town in Forsyth County, Georgia. The local Mellow Mushroom (when that was still a hole in the wall, pirate ship company) sold t-shirts that said "I love Cumming."
As a child growing up there, I didn't get it. As a teenager driving up 400 past the Siemens water tower, it was hilarious.

oh i know.
love that they play into it at least. Late high school/college age Pedro wouldve had a field day. We used to get in shite on track trips for the Kum and Go stations.

People overlooking KC need to remember that Omaha is just a couple of hours up the road and is a historically solid hockey town going back to the old days of the Omaha Knights minor league hockey teams to the current USHL Omaha Lancers and D1 Omaha Mavericks.
You can add that metro area of 1 million plus to KC's market area for fan base and TV market.

Rather them stay in Arizona then go to the black hole of Atlanta,
Terrible sports town

Not sure if Houston works either bc IIRC the Rockets have been very hostile to sharing the Toyota Center
The issue was the previous owner of the Rockets Les Alexander would only support an NHL team and share the arena was if he owned it or got a piece of the revenue which of course other potential NHL owners wouldn’t agree to. He has since sold the team and the current Rockets owner would be the most likely candidate to buy an NHL team

The template franchise for MLS, a middle-of-the road NBA team drawing over 100% capacity, a baseball team with a world series title and a sports complex the envy of other teams, and an NFL team that, even when shitty, dominates the sports landscape.
Truly a terrible sports town.

For a mid sized city with only 1 other major league franchise like Salt Lake or Portland, you'd prefer not to pair an NHL team with an NBA team.
That said, both of those cities need new arenas badly so this could be a win / win / win and actually HELP the existing NBA franchises.
Kansas city makes the most sense as they have a good arena and no NBA team

Really seems like KC is the logical destination if an ownership group steps up or the current Coyotes owner wants to go there

Absolutely was a factor in my thought process for Kansas City.
Proximity to a growing city with a strong hockey tradition makes a lot of sense.

Move them to either QC or Hartford, CT.

That’s the best pairing because both of those share the same venues most of the time…
