Atlanta's latest failure was too soon. DC had to wait for over 25 years to get another baseball team.

Coyotes to Atlanta now confirmed.

That Birmingham logo looks like a Mexican baseball league abomination.

Hartford Whalers..the H.. the W..and the whale tail all tightly clustered together..near perfection. Swank!

The NHL wouldn't have to worry about being charged rent out of the arse to use the arena in Houston.

I think Tilman owns the Toyota Center right now and would be willing to play ball with them until a new center is created.

Think it’s pretty unlikely a new arena is built here

How much of a renovation will the Toyota Center need in order to be towards the top of the class in the NHL?

No idea. Fertitta doesn’t own it, it’s some sort of JV between the county and city and the teams I believe. Same with Minute Maid and NRG

Ah shite, I see that Harris County Houston Sports Authority is the "owner" whereas "Clutch City Sports and Entertainment" is the operator of which Fertitta is the owner and that is where my confusion stems. Is the NHL afraid that he would turn a NHL arena into one of his restaurant traps like Downtown Aquarium?

I heard today that he'd probably charge the NHL rent.

Don't know how true that is.

You’re eliminating basically half the metro area from ever attending a game with all those locations. More than that with effing Conroe which is legitimately an hour and a half from the center of the metro area during week night traffic.

An NHL team based in Pearland or Conroe might draw 4,000 people a night.

Who owns it? That's probably who I heard would charge rent.

Wouldn’t be the worst thing? Get better demographics in there.

You named places in every corner of the Houston metro. You’re eliminating the demographics you supposedly want

This is where I’m at right now. NHL moves Arizona to KC or SLC then expands to Houston and Atlanta. Down the road it’ll likely expand to 36

The Woodlands is fine for a concert or two but to draw people multiple times a week would be absolute hell.
