Oak Grove and Mangham are in the same 2A district.
Homer and Haynesville are in the same 1A district.

Had no clue Carencro was Select school.

Every Lafayette Parish public school has a Magnet academy so kids can choose to attend a school out of their district. So they are all select under the new guidelines.

Amazingly a bunch of guys who play football wanted to attend the Business academy at Acadiana when this first started

JT Curtis is within a few games of catching John McKissick (S. Carolina) for the most wins in HS football history. I think he’s on pace to pass him next season.

No way he retires before he gets that record.

QB missed some time, but is really better suited only in a utility role at QB, TE, WR, RB, decoy. Still meant alot that he wasn't on the field some this season.

The big missing piece for several games was the RB, Lambert. And, even in some games that he played, he was visibly gassed/nicked.

BM has otherwise been pretty healthy. Just not an easy task to navigate the Catholic League without 2 of your best playmakers. Their offensive output showed it.

Is this why Southside became pretty competitive very quickly while Comeaux right down the road has never done much?

I’d guess it’s a similar situation with Lafayette and Acadiana being so close together but 1 is always much better

The Lafayette High/Acadiana difference goes back further. Lafayette High is effectively landlocked in terms of the school zones and the divergence started a couple of decades ago at least.

I am uncertain about Southside. They did allow some leeway for parents of kids on that side of town to pick Comeaux or Southside but they do not have a magnet academy at this time. They have come on very quickly though.

I wouldn't be surprised but, I will tell you for a fact, Mangham ain't no joke. If they are able to get the Williams kid in space, he is hard to tackle. Dude looks like Reggie Bush in the open field.

I was told a few years ago by someone connected to local BR HS football that the local recruiting at UHIgh was getting restricted following the departure of Get Gordon’s recruits. I was told then that CHS would be the benefactor and that they were all in at that time , especially since they did not take too kind to getting blasted by UHigh during their championship runs.

Fast forward a year or two, CHS becomes the dominate team in D1 in the state, but then gets hit with recruiting violations.

Same contact tells me to watch out for Dunham now with local recruiting. Two years later, Dunham outplays CHS in the jamboree and has now blasted almost everyone on their schedule and is one game from the Dome.

I have no clue how they match up with UHigh this year. But from their upward trajectory, looks like Dunham will be a local power next couple of years.

Is Dunhams HC the old Catholic HC? The last name looked very familiar. If not same guy, is he related to the old long time Catholic HC?
