Man, I don’t get it. He played through it and never really talked about it during the playoffs. He’s now getting an MRI to see if it requires surgery. Am I missing something here?

You're missing the point. No one gives a shite about the injury, it's the obvious attempt at redefining the narrative that is getting him dragged. He got swept out of the playoffs once again. That's the narrative. Instead of just manning up and taking the criticism he and his team put out some shite about him considering retirement, and now this to deflect.
