Wow. One of the USC officials who got criminally charged, Jovan Vavic, the men's and women's water polo coach, had won 16 national championships and is a 15-time national coach of the year.

Two current USC athletics employees — a high-ranking administrator and a legendary head coach — were indicted Tuesday in federal court in Massachusetts for their alleged roles in a racketeering conspiracy aimed to facilitate the admission of students to elite colleges and universities by falsely designating the students as recruited athletes.
USC senior associate athletic director Donna Heinel and men’s and women’s water polo coach Jovan Vavic were alleged to have received bribes totaling more than $1.3 million and $250,000, respectively, to help parents take advantage of the relaxed admissions standards for athletes at USC even though their children were not legitimately being recruited as athletes.

The dude has 16 titles. If he says someone is collegiate water polo material, who are you to argue with him?

Hard to lower the bar for a school that would let Radio Foster in and give him a degree even though he can't read.

Uncle jessie’s Wife from full house is one of the people arrested. And some chick from desperate housewives Felicity Huffman. She’s married to William H Macy but he wasn’t arrested. Guessing cause he still has a career

He Coached the Men's and Women's - and is one of the biggest figures in Water Polo.
Our country is obsessed with dumb investigations these days...muh Russians, college admissions...
How about getting out of the Middle East or solving hunger problems in the USA.

Fake news. There is no such thing as a legendary water polo coach.

As a lifelong fan and follower of USC water polo this baffles me

This probe is actually pretty interesting.
Obviously, the bribe money to fake students' admissions scores and athletic skills so they could receive "preferred admissions" is criminal under the letter of the law. The athletic staff were committing clear-cut racketeering.
But the numerous wealthy families who donate substantial sums of money directly to an institution like USC - and just happen to have a young family member admitted - is perfectly fine? Why wouldn't Lori Loughlin and Felicity Hoffman just give $1 million each to establish a center for television and media studies?
Is $1 million not enough?

Apparently their kids were too dumb to get in even on that sliding scale and needed the athletic standard.

Did you see the amount of money being exchanged? That's why it's a crime andnthe whole premise of the basketball investigation. If it weren't for the money exchanged under false pretenses it wouldn't be worth investigating. It's always about the money ole uncle Sam isn't getting a cut of. It might as well be the housewife mafia.

Shaun Brumder's dad really got screwed in Orange County. He had to give 10 mil to Stanford to get him in.
