Everything seems to indicate it's the latter. They essentially plowed straight into the mountain at 170mph. The people in the back likely had no clue except for the fraction of a second of the impact because the cabin of the helicopter does not see forward...only to the side.
Yeah basically they collided with the mountain at the cloud level, so doubtful they knew much other than they were turning around due to the fog.

Why couldn’t God have taken Antonio Brown instead of the Mamba.

Can anyone tell me which espn channel is showing Kobe’s last game tonight in 20 minutes? About to get on a plane and trying to record from my phone. Dish anywhere guide has not updated. TIA.

ESPN doesn't own the rights to that game.

I 'member. Randomly was thinking of your old avi in light of the news. Sorry about all this. Been rough on my dad, too. Lot to process.
I know there are a lot in my boat, and I never met Kobe, but it’s painful to see someone to idolized taken so suddenly. It also is just an unpleasant reminder that anyone’s ticket can be punched any day.
His death had me sweating a little in Nashville traffic today.
Again, all silly to many, I know. But you can’t help how ya feel.
Hope you’ve been well, buddy.

Tributes from the Philippines

This still doesn’t seem real. I’m a Celtics fan, but have always respected and admired Kobe. He was relentless in his work. Grew up watching him. I pause every time I hear someone mention that Kobe died.

Elle Duncan reflecting on a convo she had with Kobe. Been tough watching these interviews and seeing just how much he meant to a lot people.

I saw where someone made an online petition to change the NBA logo to Kobe and thought that is a unique and fantastic way to pay tribute to him.

LeBron somehow makes this about him with his post. “Kobe’s legacy is my responsibility. I’m going to put it on my back. Please watch over me.”

"lol" at what? the truth?
LeBron has always been self serving. that doesn't mean that he isn't hurting, but the fact remains he's selfish.

I can sympathize with what Fallon said about thinking someone like Kobe could never die.
It’s a major wake up call that it doesn’t matter who you are, what you do, or what you’ve done that when it’s your time, it’s your time and that’s the one certainty in life.

Anyone can die when you fly a helicopter in thick fog.

Death is hard for people to cope with, but this isn’t a shocker like many are taking it in as. Take Kobe and his daughter off that helicopter, is it really hard to believe a helicopter trying to fly in thick fog had problems?
The helicopter should have never been cleared to fly if LAPD wasn’t even willing to go up.
