This isn’t in NOLA and there is a Jefferson Parish police substation in the stadium parking lot. Zachary can’t use that as an excuse b

Weird situation. Contract is for 2 games at Zachary, but then offer by Curtis and a voicemail not returned.

quote:

Zachary head coach David Brewerton said he had discussions with Johnny Curtis about having the Patriots play the Broncos on the road for two second straight seasons when the contract was first crafted.

“I made an offer for what I thought was fair for (Curtis) to come here twice,” Brewerton explained. “He asked for more on top of that, which I agreed to. At that point, I told him, ‘I’m creating the schedule here to make sure we have five home games. That’s why I want you guys to come here twice. I’m not interested in coming down to New Orleans. At that point, I put the contract together.”

Curtis played at Zachary in 2022 as scheduled. The past offseason, Brewerton said Johnny Curtis called him looking to change the rematch game venue with an offer to pay more than what Curtis was to receive by visiting Zachary this season.

“On May 8, I received a call asking that we come down there since they secured a Friday night (home) venue,” Brewerton said. “I should have called them back immediately and said ‘no, it’s not happening’. I didn’t do that. Fine, that’s my fault. That doesn’t mean a contract would be changed since I didn’t call them back. That’s not true. The schedule on the LHSAA website has had it as a home game for us since March.”

Brewerton also cited that the school has sold season tickets for five home games.

Haha I really hope this is true. I would be willing to bet the Shrine on Airline is the safest field in America. Metairie, Jefferson Parish and has a police station in the parking lot.

Obviously you are pretty ignorant yourself. If you said this about any stadium in Orleans parish I would agree with you.

Well since they're going to New Orleans to play St. Aug next week, I would have to say this is not the reason.

It’s been a while since I played HS football but everything was a home/away series. I’ve never seen series that one sided.

Why wouldn’t you simply call someone back?

That doesn’t mean a contract would be changed since I didn’t call them back

Has the contract been posted? That could really clear this up.

More he-said, she-said. If they want this cleared up, just produce an executed contract….either side. JT said they declined the contract with 2 away games and proposed a home-and-home if they could find a Friday night game…..which he’s claiming they did. Regardless of Brewerton not getting back to JT timely, there should still be a contract out there that stipulates where the game would have been played.

If not, that’s terrible operational procedure by both schools.
