I'm so confused, Saban is saying not 1 Bama player got an NIL deal, is that true?

He’s saying they didn’t set up nil deals for recruits prior to coming to campus

I think he’s saying Alabama players get NIL deal fairly organically while aTm basically collected millions of dollars to pay recruits to come to aTm.

He is saying they never once used an NIL deal to entice a player to sign. Which is 100% bullshite and amazing people are defending Saban here

while talking to a group in which he was asking them to be more involved with NIL

the level of stugotz is amazing

We definitely need him to chime in and stir the pot. Then we need Mike Leach to wax poetically about the situation. The rest of the SEC HC's are boring goobers (though Kelly seems to have an underlying Irish temper ready to explode at the right time).

I know we talk about it 24/7 on this board, but at the end of the day college football is nothing more than ENTERTAINMENT for the fans. Controversy and bitterness between the participants makes it more entertaining.

He said all this while he was actively talking to a group he was begging to get more involved in giving money to NIL

Just admit Saban sounded a little ridiculous last night

This is like being in high school and watching two people that you don’t like get into a fight. You want to see a double knockout

Is there an early line on the game in October? I'm going to hammer Bama now, they will kick the shite out of them.

i honestly dont think he meant anything too nefarious behind the comment. i think he meant more "see what they did with their NIL stuff, we should be able to do the same" but idk

My guess would be he was begging donors to get more involved up front. A&M was proactively doing this which is why they had the number one class. Perhaps Bama was lagging or even waiting until they got on campus and he’s trying to change that. Bame certainly has non NIL advantages but they need to up their payment game

Yes, it was a booster meeting where Saban was telling them they need to give more money for NIL

Saban, for likely the first time in his career, was not measured with his words. I honestly don’t think he was mad or trying to really “out” Jimbo and A&M, he was just trying to rile the rich men up to open their wallets

But when you say what he did in public, it’s a bad look when put in a quote

Usually when someone gets this upset (Jimbo) it means that someone is over the target (Saban).

I mean Saban isn't wrong in what he is saying. It's not illegal now but that doesn't mean it's right. If I was jimbo I would have embraced it and then made Saban look foolish for not doing the same thing.

The biggest issue I see for A&M is this is never going to work. You pay for all your players and you are buying their egos too. They will never buy in to the program because their heart isn't really in it because they most likely are only there for the money. You will have a bunch of prima donnas all thinking they are the shite and the rules don't mean anything to them. Recipe for disaster there.

No, it wasn't.

At least try to get your facts straight.
