This guy sucks. He has run the Marlins into the ground, with the attendence numbers at a very embarrasing level. I feel so bad for the players on the team. Loria only cares about getting $ for himself. Now he is personally making boneheaded lineup changes. I feel sorry for fans and players of the Marlins.

Fernandez will be a free agent after six seasons. Had the Marlins stashed him in the minor leagues for the season's first 11 days – a time during which Fernandez made only one start – he would not have been eligible for free agency until 2019.

do they not a baseball man that can stand up to him?

This is not the first time Loria has tried to tinker with his team's on-field product. Loria, one source said, also made lineup suggestions to Ozzie Guillen, the team's previous manager. Guillen ignored them.

They need a manager like Guillen again. And by that I mean someone who has tenure and the guts to stand up to Loria and say NO.

Yes he is the worst owner in sports. He killed the Expos for which I shall never forgive and is doing the same to the Marlins now.

So by not stashing Fernandez in the minors he's elligible for free agency after 6 years and if they had put him in the minors he wouldn't be a free agent til 2019? Is my math that bad?

2019 - after 7th season

Can't believe that happened.

Oh, the article says until 2019, not after 2019.

I think Loria played Miami well. He got all kinds of financial support from the tax payers and could probably sell the franchise right now for a nice profit.

Miami is not known as a great sports town

Easily worst sports town in America. It's not like this is happening in Boston or Dallas.

Blows my mind that since 1997, the city of Miami has 4 championships.

fricking makes me sick.

Up there with worst owners but the worst thing in pro sports is Bud Selig who, BTW, helped Loria in that Expo deal.
